New guy here that needs help!

Hello all, i am new and i have some serious fitness problems. i am 24 years old and am in the united states military...

i lost 120lbs to get into the military when i got out of high school (300lbs to 180)... but once i got in i absolutly quit working out and eating healthy. i now weigh 246 with a 44 inch waistline.

as some of you might know we have some pretty high standards when it comes to fitness and untill now i have eeked it out by the skin of my teeth... now is a different story...

they no longer care about weight, but only the times you can do your run, pushups, situps, etc. in and the waist circumference. this is my problem... i have just failed my annual pt test and i am scheduled to take it again in december-january timeframe... if i dont pass then i have only one more shot or i am gonna get kicked out... i REALLY dont want that to happen as i love my job, my country and my assignment.

i dont really have a problem with the physical portions of the test, but the waistline is killing me... my goal is to loose 3-4 inches between now and december-january...

my question is this: is that possible??

i am pretty well schooled on losing weight and working out... but i lost all that weight over about a year and a half timeframe using the atkins diet and working out... since i am in the military, i have a lot of resources at hand i.e nutritionist, free gym, personal trainers, etc. so my diet and excersizing is pretty well taken care of...

i just need to hear from someone that this is not an impossible task and that it is feasable...

thanks

I would say it's feasible. Looks like you could be getting into the habit of weight cycling though and that isn't good. When you lose a ton of weight, put it on again, lose it again and so on it can destroy your metabolism and eventually you just lose the ability to lose weight and it's also been suggested that it can make immune system less functional.

My advice is forget the inches thing, make some healthy lifesytles changes and stick with them for the rest of your life. You will lose weight and inches, slowly, but you will be more likely to keep the weight off for the long haul.

Probably not what you wanted to hear, but it has to be said none-the-less.
