hello people,

I am new to the site and to this kind of thing in general, I never really though of losing weight before but now it's a must. Let's start first by talking about myself :)

I am a 19 years old, 183cm tall latino guy living in Canada and I weight 230. I was told that in order to look good I must be at around 200 or 190 for my height. Because of heavy work I used to do, and do now I have muscles in my arms... but that's about it xD

well, as I kept growing/eating and I looked at myself in the mirror and saw these stretch marks in both my arms (shoulders) and in my hips. I got scared and decided to change the way I eat, and do physical activities. I am always the shy guy because of my looks, but I am sure I can change if I really put myself to it. My GOAL is to have a really great and healthy body by June 2009. Because I will be taking an old friend to her grad party and I want to look good :)

That's about 12-13 weeks from now, so I hope to lose 30-40 in the new few weeks!

PS.

Is it possible to lose 30-40 pounds in 12-13 weeks?

So you are 6 foot tall if my math is right. 190 to 200 is a good weight for that height assuming your body fat percentage is around 14 to 16 percent. A little lower is even better if you are looking for a lean and muscular look. I must say though, I have done 12 week contests before and have gone crazy with how serious I worked out and how healthy I ate and the most I have ever lost was 21.5 lbs in 12 weeks. I think that was in 2000. I went from 214 to 192.5 in exactly 12 weeks. That was doing everything perfect.

However, last June, July and August I lost 10 lbs each month so I actually did lose 30 lbs in 12 weeks but my starting weight was much higher at 251 (actually started counting at 249). Then it took me 7 weeks to lose the next 10 lbs and then it took me 15 weeks to lose the next 10 lbs! So here I am today at 199. I am about 1 or 2 cm shorter than you and I am shooting for 189.

Good luck to you and even if you don't reach your goal in 12 weeks that does not mean you failed. Just keep at it.

I was told that in order to look good I must be at around 200 or 190 for my height.

FYI - I hope you realize that just because you're 6 feet tall and weigh a certain weight, that doesn't mean you're automatically going to look good. Some people are 6 feet tall and look good when they weigh 200 lbs. Some people are 6 feet tall and look good when they weigh 220 lbs. Some people are 6 feet tall and...eh, you get it.

Don't go on your weight and your weight alone. Just continue to exercise and eat better and I'm sure you'll get to your "looking good" weight.

Good luck.
