Hey everyone. This is my first official post on here. I've been signed up for a few weeks and have been lurking in the background waiting for the right time to jump out and get posting.
So here's the dealio with a bit of history.
Currently 25 yrs old; 5'-11"; 205 lbs
Was a rower in college. Exercising 6 days a week, 2 times a day (3 lifts, 9 cardio). I entered school at a whopping 145 lbs, of lean mean geek physique. Through a combination of late night pizza runs, weight lifting and using muscles I never knew existed until I started rowing, I sent my weight to a nice 165 lbs and gained my "freshman 20". I held that weight until the spring of freshman year where I stopped drinking soda, and eating junk food and went back down to a much more muscular and in shape 150 pounds. I slowly gained again over summer break settling out at 165. I stayed this weight (+/-)for sophmore year and junior year. after junior year i spent the summer at school and got myself in a good workout regiment and gained another 15 lbs of mass (probably due more to the extra beer that was being drank each night). Through senior year i got back down to 165 and stayed there.
Now the biggie...
Upon graduation and the end of my rowing career I went into a nice sloth like stage. I started a new job almost immediately after graduation, and was not liking the new routine of 8-5 with an hour long commute each way. I eventually joined a LA Fitness and started making erratic trips to work out. I couldn't get into a good rhythm and slowly the weight started going up. About 1 year after graduation I was at 180 lbs.
I eventually moved to a new apartment and the LA Fitness became too far a drive to be of interest. I was working more and more in the Delaware office (I worked in Philly and lived in the burbs) and had little time or energy after commuting home.
I then moved to Long Island (still here) and into an apartment that was way too much money for my one job and took on a 2nd job to help the finances. I started having stomach issues that fall (a combination of a stressful relationship and nerves about money brought on some nice GERD) and upon my doctors visit I was told to get my ass to the gym ASAP. My cholesterol numbers were out of control, my BP was high (always has been mind you) and my diet was a contributing factor to the stomach issues.
Fast forward 6 months. Finally got myself into a nice routine at the gym. The stressful relationship ended and in my post-relationship "what do I do with myself" phase I started using my gym membership and was really kicking it into gear. I started losing a few pounds and started feeling healtier. Then the 2nd job started up again and that all went to hell.
Fast forward another year to now. (where are we? we're at now sir. what happened to then. we passed it? when? just now?) (ok enough spaceballs). I am currently 205 lbs, flabby (but not fat according to my health nut gf) not well toned and in a general state of unhappiness with my body. I wouldn't put myself in the out-of-shape category as I managed to run a 10k last april in 60 minutes and lived through it.
My goals:
As I already said, I am unhappy with my body as it is now. I don't feel strong, and I don't feel as healthy as I used to. My goals are to bring the weight down, get into healthier eating habits, and get back into shape.
This coming Friday I plan to rejoin the gym (i had ended my membership to save money) and want to start getting into a routine.
My short term goal is to run my next 10k (Sept 20th) in 50 minutes, and to get myself eating better and in a solid routine.
My long term goal is to lose 15 lbs by new years (vacation in florida).
