New girl saying hi!

Hi everyone!
This seems like a very helpful forum. Just wanted to say thanks in advance to everyone that will be helping me out as I try to reach my goal! :)

hello and welcome. I am fairly new here and people are very helpful. Good luck achieving your gaols. You might even think about posting what your goals are for people to sese

Hi Avraham,

I am looking to lose 15-20 pounds. I am 20 years old, 5'4 and about 150 pounds. I have never had a problem with my weight (was always between 125-130lbs and very active) until about 10 months ago when I started taking a medication for anxiety! Needless to say I stopped taking it when I packed on the pounds. Now the only problem is I cant get rid of it! Thats why I decided to join the forum for some advice and get into a fitness routine.
Thanks for your nice welcome!

welcome to the forum.

thats not alot fo weight to lose, and you may even be abole to just find some fun stuff to do... ie: spin classes, weight training, or maybe even a sport like women's softball, or volleyball.

sweat daily!

Thanks for welcoming me!
I am thinking about doing kickboxing. Its something I've always wanted to do so I figure why not now?! Has anyone else here gotten into boxing?

Well, never done kick boxing, but I have done tai quan do, it's pretty fun, when I was a kid it worked me like nothing else lol, I was the most active kid you've ever seen (considering my car wreck situation back then) but the martial art gave me the best time and the hardest workout I've ever had, even to date, so you're doing kickboxing? I'm gonna try taking Muay thai classes when I get a bit more into shape :)

Hi Don112,
Yep, I am doing kickboxing for sure. I am going to start on Monday. The first class will prob kick my a** but I know I will have a great time. I have always had problems with anxiety and it will help with that too! So youre thinking about doing Muay Thai? That sounds really cool. I have so much respect for those arts. Best of luck! Be sure to let me know how it goes if you try a class!

Welcome to the forum! :)

What are your personal goals? What can we help you with? I haven't tried kick boxing. But I am into martial arts, and still practice it.

Let's ROCK this thing! :)

Hi Chillen,
My goal is to lose 15-20 pounds. I am currently 5'4 and 150lbs. I have always been about 125-130, until I took a medication for anxiety. It made me gain almost 20 pounds in less than 3 months. That was about 10 months ago and nothing has changed. But to be honest I havent been trying as hard as I should have been. Now I realize that I am the only one who can change what I dont like. I need to stop complaining about what I am not happy with...and start busting a** to reach my goal! I start kick boxing on Monday, i'm so excited! What type of martial arts do you do?

Aikido, been practicing it the last few years just before starting up my lifestyle with diet and fitness at 45/46.

Have you set up a diet plan yet? Calculated your calories? I assume you stopped taking the anti-depressant medication? What kind of medication was it?

Realizing the problem is the first step. The second step is taking the time to educate yourself on the things to do to earn your goal; most importantly along this path, you will learn a great deal about yourself and make adjustments as you go. You have it in you to provide "enough of you" to get this done to your satisfaction. Do not let yourself down. You can and will do this.

If you do not know how to calculate your calories (macros), I can help you with this.

Best regards,

Chillen

No, I havent set up a diet plan yet. I have been trying to eat healthier as a whole but still have a lot to learn about what is actually healthy vs. what isnt. And, yes, I would appreciate your help calculating calories. I was taking zoloft for anxiety. I stopped about 6 or 7 months ago. I know that 20 pounds really isnt a lot of weight to lose, but it it feels like it is for me only because I have never been in this situation before. I was always the girl who could eat whatever I want and wouldnt gain a pound.
Another quick question...is it true that I wont be able to lose any weight unless I am completely hydrated? a trainer told me to drink at least 75 ounces of water a day.
Thanks for all of your help!
