Hi guys just wanted to introduce my self, I joined to get motivated and ideas from you guys. When I started my current job I told my self I would be here just for about 2 years or so then become a peace officer. Got real comfortable here well needless to say its been 6 years and today I got a real wake up call I really want to apply to a few police departments and even Border patrol. But before I do I want to lose about 100 pounds.

I used to be really active and I still want to do alot of activity's but I find my self short on energy to actually doing anything this is where you guys come in I really need to read up on how to get energy I can do the work outs and get it done physically but I need to learn how to eat correctly and I don't want to just do this for my new career and lose weight quick I want something that I can transition into for the rest of my life.

well better cut this off before I bore you guys, lol. Need to get some reading done before I go tonight. thx in advance guys.

Hey Phil,

It's great to see that you're taking steps to take care of your health! When it comes to finding the energy to work out... it can sometimes be one of those things that almost gets worse before it gets better. Your body needs to get used to having a greater workload put on it, so you might find that for the first bit, you'll be a bit more tired. After a while, you'll see that exercise gets easier and can actually start to leave you feeling energized after a workout.

One of the easiest forms of exercise to take on is walking. Get into a regular routine of walking 3-4 days per week for as much time as you feel is realistic at first (you might only start with 10-20 mins, which is completely fine!) Once you have a routine established, work on increasing the length of your walks. Also, slowly add in resistance training. You might only start with 20 mins 2 days per week, which again, is perfectly fine.

Start small, make manageable changes, then work on adding things on to your routine. If you try to do too much all at once, chances are you'll get discouraged and give up.

Good luck and keep us posted! Starting a diary in the weight loss diary section can be very helpful!

thx

Hi PLB,
thanks for the pointers really appreciate it, that Monday night was my 1st work out in a long time, Did 20 mins of optical and bicep and triceps work out did about 10 mins of shooting the basketball around a bit. Tuesday took it easy just played a few games of basketball half court only about 40 min of play yesterday nothing really other than playing 2 games of table tennis.

Man i don't know if its just because I'm staring out but it feels really good to be sore feels like I have something to talk about outside the norm. I hope to stick with it.
