Hi all. I'm 57 and need to lose about 70 pounds according to my doctor. I weigh about 235 and need to be about 165. My cholesterol and triglycerides are high and I'll be working on making good healthy choices along with watching my calorie intake.

I'm really glad to have found this forum and looking forward to making friends. I know I can do it this time. Other than starting a journal, I hope to spend a little time looking around the different topics and just learning.

I hope I can give and receive support as I go along!!!

This time I'm not making any excuses....It is time!!!!

I see we almost weigh the same. I'm 245, and according to my doc I have to quit at least 100 pounds. However, my goal is to reach 130 pounds, to put a little pressure on me! ;D

I have Hashimoto's disease, so my cholesterol levels are pretty high too. I know what you feel. (even I'm younger, 24 now). I have a baby boy (2 years old), and I'm planning to have more in the coming years. I want to be a healthy active mommy, so I'm very determined to achieve it!

I know you can do it, too!

Wow, we have a lot in common!!! By the time I found out I had Hashimoto's disease, my TSH was 25. My doc says now that I am on synthroid, I should be able to lose weight, but it is really hard. I know I can do it though, because I was losing for a while, but then I just fell off the wagon. I really think taking it a day at a time and planning the night before is the best way for me. That has been what has worked in the past. I hope we can talk sometimes. I hope it would help us both!!
 
One thing that I have done in the past that really helped me was to use something visual to help keep me motivated. I used to carry a picture around of Will Smith around because I wanted to get a physique like his. My friends would tell me that I was so corny to be carrying that picture around.

It so simple but it really had a huge impact on keeping me motivated when I truly wanted to just give up. Find something that will keep you motivated...it doesn't have to be a picture, it could be anything! What motivates someone else may not do anything for you.

The biggest thing for me was just making the lifestyle change. I would exercise but afterward I would still eat the same old junk that got me in trouble in the first place. Just keep taking it one day at a time like you had mentioned before.

Thanks Patrick. I'm going to take some time and find a motivator. Great idea!!! I totally agree about the biggest thing just being changing your lifestyle and mindset!! I've been eating the most unhealthy foods lately, and I just want to eat better, live longer, and look a bit nicer! Maybe I should choose a rockin piece of clothing, take and take a picture of that with me!! Hmmm!!! Better get busy!

Go to diet ticker and choose your ticker, click next. Choose your ticker slider, click next. Choose a Password/pin name, skip down to Weight Measurements, choose pounds or kilograms. Next weight target (the weight you want to be). Next your starting weight! Next your current weight. Put today's date (that is if you are getting your ticker today). Skip the rest and click next. Your ticker should be at the top. Scroll down and get your ticker: You will need the bbCode. Highlight the bbCode and copy to take it back with you to the WLF. You will only need to copy starting with . Don't for get to Submit your ticker! Go back to the thread, your ticker should show up. :)
