Hello, my name is Rob and I grew up in NYC and been living in Houston, Texas since 2000. I'm 46 yrs old, married, parent of 2 males(24&26) and 3 poms and 1 cat. I am 5'4"/196lbs and was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2003 and high blood pressure. When I lived in NYC i weighed 160lb sand had no diabetes and high blood pressure. In NYC you walk everywhere and not as many restaurants as there is in Texas. I fell for it and now I am paying for it. Last year i started the P90X but did not finish it and now i'm reading the 4 hour body book. I hope i can get the advice/motivation that will get me back to a healthy life.I am motivated and want to change.

Welcome to the forum Rob. This board is a great place to get inspiration and tips on healthy weight loss. My husband is Type 2 and has borderline high blood pressure so I totally understand your motivation. But it can be done!

Take some baby steps. Incorporate some exercise into your daily routine and once it's a habit, change your diet. There are lots of low sodium and sugar free recipes online that you should check out. We've had so many that are really tasty, I'm sure you'll find some you like too.
