New Body, New Life, New Me!!!

Hello Everyone! This is my official first diary entry... AND I couldn't be more excited! I am really looking foward to this lifestyle change that I am making. Not only the lifestyle change, but hopefully making some great friends along the way.
I'm going to start off by giving a quick introduction of who I am. I am a 20 yr. old college Junior studying Psychology, Sociology, and Criminology. I LOVE college and getting an education, but I am attending school away from everyone that I love! I am recently engaged to the man that I have been with since I was 15 and in the 10th grade in high school! It is very difficult being in a long distance relationship... but we are managing well. I have been overweight my whole life. Literally since the 2nd grade I have been the chubby kid. I have tried many many diets and the only one that has seemed to work in the past is the eat healthy and work out diet... imagine that.. lol. On a serious note though... I am very ready to change my life for the better. I would love to look gorgeous on my wedding day. Not only for my wedding but MAINLY for my health is the reason that I want to lose weight. My mother and me Fiance's mother both have Diabetes. Both him and I are overweight and we realize how at risk we are for developing Diabetes. So.... here I am.
I am going to answer the questions that I read in the intro message about the diaries now..

I am looking to lose about 80 lbs. I currently weigh 258. In August before I moved away I weighed 271... so it's a start. I really have not been doing to much, due to the fact that I had to deal with my whole life changing. I am hoping to lose the 80 lbs by my wedding, which is July 18, 2009. Anytime earlier would be great too!! The method that I am going to use to lose my weight like I said above with just be eating healthy, working out, and not limiting what I can eat to myself, but how much I will allow myself to eat! (I think that is a very important key to keep in mind when seriously dieting). I will be starting my lifestyle change TODAY!!!! I am hoping to recieve support from all of my family and friends. I am also hoping that my fiance will support me in joining along! We do well with mini competitions and then we reward ourselves in one way or another! I think that my goals are very much realistic and attainable with willpower and strength to get over obstacles that are thrown my way.. and Im sure there will be many.

I am GREATLY looking foward to talking to and sharing stories of success and hard times with all of you!

Welcome to your new diary.

I also want to wish you the best of luck in your weight loss project. You have already made a great start. Well done.

The best advice that I can give you is to get a pedometer and walk a lot. Walking is free and it is unbelievably effective for losing weight. I started walking in late February and also being controlled about eating just healthy food and it has all had pretty amazing results for me. When I was big I felt that most exercise was pretty well impossible for me and to be honest I wouldnt like to run even now. I just started going out for a walk each day and increasing the distance every few days until it got to be quite a lot. I got greedy about the weight loss and was happy to devote quite a bit of time and effort into making it happen.

The beauty of the pedometer is that you see how many steps you took yesterday and it kind of challenges you to do as many or more today. You actually see a benefit for running up and down stairs for no real reason at all - so you find yourself doing all sorts of extra innocuous bits of exercise which all adds up.

First I would like to say HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone!!!!
I weighed myself this morning and it seems to be looking good so far. I have been watching what I was eating the past two day and I went from 258 on Dec 30 to 255.4 today! I was excited because its a start! I have a busy busy busy but exciting day ahead of me. I am goiong to see WICKED the Broadway play and I have some shopping that is needed to be done... so I wil be on the run today which as you all know can make it difficult to stay on track! I will report back this evening to tell you all how I did today!!!

WICKED was AMAZING!!! I had a great time yesturday with my fiance... who just joined WLF yesturday. (His screen name is buddy_waltemath) I am very excited that he has joined as well... I am hoping and praying that this is going to be a great year for the two of us.
I belong to the weight yourself everyday club, so once again I weighed myself today! I lost another 2.9 lbs. I was excited!! I did really well with being out all day. For breakfast I ate fresh fruit crepes with fat-free strawberry yogurt on top and some granola. Then I ate the rest at home with is alot easier to be healthy when not eating out. Today I have ate fer healthy as well... Its going good.
So since Dec. 30, I have lost a total of 5.7 lbs! I am hoping to keep up the good work and just watch my weight keep getting smaller and smaller until I am in one-derland!!!! I cant wait until that day!!! Well, until tomorrow!!!

Just wanted to let everyone that is reading my diary know that I had another good weigh in this morning! I have lost a total of 7.8 lbs since Dec. 30! I was really excited!!!
I am in the Biggest Loser Challenge (GO BLACK TEAM!!!) And I am soooo excited to start it. I think that it is going to be hard because of the challenges and stuff but I am really excited!
I will post again later on tonight!! Just wanted to give everyone a quick update!!!!!

Hello just wanted to stop by and hey hey, i see that your doing really good oon your weight loss!! Good job and keep it up!! at the rate that your going you will be done before the summer!! just in time for swimwear!! well i see that your weigh yourself everyday... i use to then i tried to stop and havent in 2 days which is alot lol... but i'm trying to do it every friday, so tomorrow i will see if this hard work has payed off... well good luck to u!:Angel_anim:

Hi Katie. Looks like you're off to a great start and you have a great attitude! I was a psych major in college as well. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
 
You asked in Angel's diary about the spreadsheet. Check out pages 7 and 8 of her diary. It is basically something that I developed that she is now using. I find it to be the most logical way of dealing with things. It gives amazing insight into how my body reacts to things.

hey.... well i just wanted to let you know that the weigh-in was GREAT!!! down 4 lbs!! yeah...so 10lbs in about 2 weeks!! thats what i'm talking about!! well I'm going to try NOT to weight myself until next Friday, but its gonna be hard! the pics of you look nice, you look so happy!! I think i'm gonna upload some in my Diary good idea. anywho i hope your having a good day!!:waving:
