Hello, Let me introduce my self. I am 38 and weigh around 242. My height is 5’6”. I recently decided to change my lifestyle to a healthy one. I have been seriously exercising and trying to eat healthy for the last 3 months. Since I started I have lost 20 pounds. I am having a couple of issues and hence decided to seek out some support. So here goes:
20 years ago I was a varsity wrestler on my high school team. I was in great shape and was wearing a size 32 in jeans. Even back then I never had the “six pack” or low body fat. I am pretty sure it was from improper diet. Up until I was 9 or 10 I was a “skinny” kid. Not sure what happened to change things. Maybe family life or depression at a young age either way I was on the path to fatness. When I got in to high school and got on the team I was able to shed a lot of pounds. I never got to what the ideal body weight should be for my height, but I was pretty healthy.
Now with the a new baby (he is almost 2 now) I have realized that I am not in shape or have the energy to keep up with him. I am doing a lot better since I started 3 months ago, but am no where near where I want to be. So I am hoping folks around here can help.

My routine:
I was working out every day. Cardio workout for 30 minutes at lunch time.
3 nights a week cardio for 30 minutes plus weights, alternating upper and lower body.
Saturday: both.
Sunday :rest.

Diet:
Breakfast: is a cup of cheerios, 10:00 am banana and almonds.
Lunch: I will have a meal replacement smoothie from my gym or a balanced lunch from home. Usually chicken or steak with green vegetables or a salad, for example today I am having spaghetti made with whole wheat noodles, a half cup of sauce, and some Italian sausage. Tonight I will have tuna sandwich on whole wheat with light mayo. I brought a plum today for my 3:00pm snack. I won’t go to the gym today, but will this evening.

I gave up on the beer, it was hard as hell, and I do have red wine a couple of nights a week. I try not to drink more than 2 glasses. Every one says that they can tell a big difference in my appearance, and I feel really good. The problem is I have hit a wall. Right now I am at 242 and I can not get below it. I have cut back on working out everyday on the advice of a trainer friend. Still the weight has remained stable. I am at a loss as to why I can not drop. I am afraid that maybe I am taking in to many calories or not enough. Pleas help.
I appreciate the help and support.

I'm sure lots of other advice will got offered but maybe your calorie consumption is too low and you might also need to switch up what cardio you are doing. My best suggestion is to see a nutritionist or dietician for your caloric needs and if the funds aren't there, there are tons of websites out there that can help you (that's what I do) with what you are looking for. Good luck!
