New and looking for support!!

Hey... I'm Nikki and I'm 21 years old... I've always been the big kid ever since I was little I was even a big baby and now that I'm 21 I realize its time for a change... I've always been 1 of those that said I'll loose it all next year well it's this year to change... I started walking and eating healthier back in August, counting calories and I lost 30 lbs pretty quickly then in Sept I turned 21 and fell completely off the weight loss wagon, 1st it was my birthday so I could cheat then it was Halloween then Thanksgiving and then Christmas... I luckily haven't gained any of the weight back and Ive decided its time to really get back with it and stick to it... I currently weigh 297 lbs and my goal is to be down to 225 by the 4th of July.... Theres 185 days from Jan 1st to July 4th and I figure thats very duable when I lost 30 lbs in about a month. The 225 isnt my end goal but I look at it as a big stepping stone and that smaller goals will get me where Im going better then 1 huge goal. I'm here because I need support... my family is a pretty big group and they don't mind being that way but I do, they try to be supportive and think I'm doing great but it doesnt help when they dont cook healthy foods and always invite me to go out to eat, so hopefully this is the real beginning to my new life... I've looked around and see there are alot of great people on here and I just hope that you can support me to and get me to where I want to be. Thank!
 
Hi Nikki, welcome to the forum, you came to the right place for support. Yes we do have some good people on this forum that are willing to help in any way they can. Start a diary and note what you eat on a daily bases. Yes I think it is better to lose slow, this helps me to keep my weight off longer. We all struggle to lose and keep our weight off. That is why we all join this forum. Welcome again, start by reading the stickies. Good Luck!!:seeya:
 
Stay Clear of Fast Food!

Hi Nikki,

Just wanted to encourage you on your way of losing weight. Walking is excellent for losing weight if you walk at a fast pace but what really helps is eating well. Stay clear of fast food and eat a lot of veggies to fill you up so you eat less of sweets and fats. Never ever eliminate anything completely as your body will suffer. What you can do is eat less and less of fatty stuff, carbs and sweets and increase your intake of veggies and proteins.

However, this is just a gist of what one should actually eat. You should actually follow a set program of what to eat and what to not eat with a checklist. Hope this helps! :)

Thanks for the encouragement! I def. completely avoid eating out and any fast food and I count calories too! Ill start my journal tonight after I work out... I hope to meet some really good supportive friends here!
 
There are many boot camp deal in (removed), I recently attend one here in Florida. you can check (removed) to find one nearby. It is very intense, but very useful also.

I officially started my Diary I hope yall will check it out! It only took me 4 days to do it lol but Im gonna try my best to keep up with it!
 
Thats an awesome goal!!! I have a similar goal as well, but I've noticed that for me personally, trying to loose weight to look better wasn't doing it for me. I entered into a 5 mile swim that will be happening this October.. I was a HUGE swimmer in high school and pretty much all my life, so I've been training again to do that. 110 pounds to go, and I've lost almost 12 so far and its only been two months!!! I hope you and I can go along and support each other!!!

Welcome! I can't wait to read your diary and see how you progress. Good luck. 30 pounds in a month...thats...intense a bit unsafe as well. I hope you don't aim to look that much in a month again. And don't get discouraged if you don't lose that much in a month! :D Good luck!

I def agree! Thats awesome you signed up for a swim that will Im sure help to motivate you! I totally hope that you and I can support each other along the way!!

Ya the 30 lbs in a month was pretty intense but I didnt even really push myself terribly hard... I certainly dont think Ill be loosing 30 lbs a month thats why my goal is 225 lbs by July 4th! I started my diary I hope youve checked it out!
