new and in need of help!!

Hey everyone! My name is Lydia, I am 21 years old and I am looking for some advice and support to kickstart my weightloss. I am currently at 219 pounds, which is the heaviest I have ever been and a size 16-18 (UK)..
It's not just about theway I look, I am really starting to worry about my health. I have always been overweight, and just want to change things. After all I am the only one who can do it. My biggest downfall is motivation and staying postitive. Hopefully by joining this site, I'll be able to start making the changes I need to get healthy.

Welcome to the forum! It's great that you've decided to take care of both your health and your weight!

My first piece of advice would be to start small and set realistic goals... say getting 1-2 days per week of exercise if you're not already doing so and maybe making 1-2 healthy dietary changes per week (for example: cut down the amount of sodas or juice that you drink in a day, if you drink them). Then each week, add more of those small but achievable changes.

My second piece of advice is to start a diary in the diary section of this forum... Research shows that if you write down your goals and keep track of your progress, you are more likely to reach those goals, as well as maintain them! You will also be likely to receive support and encouragement from others that are recording their weight loss diaries.

Hey Lydia :) I'm 21 (and in England as well!) and I started off at 210lbs. You CAN change and you CAN do this! Just stay strong and keep focused!

Welcome!!

My advice would be to start off by lowering your calories and working out a few times a week. Even if you just go for a walk. One thing that's been helping me lose with is to keep a journal with me at all times. I picked one up at a dollar store and I write down everything I eat, how long I workout, my thoughts and feelings for the day and of course and weight changes. It's been a huge help. It keeps me motivated and I can always look back to see what I did wrong or what I did right. It's great.
