Hello all. I'm new to this forum and unfortunately not new to "dieting." I have embarked on this journey one too many times but this is the final go around. I've tried quick fix-me-thinners like slim-fast, popping so-called miracle pills, thinning tea, well, you get the drift. Although it worked for me in the beginning, I just didn't see myself drinking a shake for the rest of my life nor popping pills. I am now realizing that I don't want to lose for a short period of time, I want to lose for the rest of my life. After a little research, I've figured out that it's a matter of intake & output.. simply put.
A little bit about me.. I am 33, a mother of 4 and of polynesian descent (Samoan, to be exact).. Majority of my family members are HUGE (btw, not ALL Samoans are big) and are diabetic. Others have undergone surgery for a kidney transplant and still don't watch what they eat, let alone exercise.. and because of this lifestyle, most don't reach age 55, sad to say. The typical frame of mind is, "My spouse loves ALL of me for who I am, so I don't need to lose weight".. bologna, I tell ya. heh.. I don't want to fall into that statistic, so I am making this change!
I started my life-long change on January 5 and have so far lost 11 lbs and a few inches here and there.. I know I won't be thin overnight, but I am looking forward to meeting the "new" me.
I think this website's great and very informational. Thanks for having me.
