New, and have questions

I am 20 years old 6'4 339pounds, was 350 just over a week ago but I have gotten stuck at 339, first 3 days i lost around 2pounds a day then it dropped to 1.5 then 1.0, then .5, then finally 0.

I have been restricting myself to 1,000 calories a day at first it worked well, and at this point I pretty much feel full at 1,000 calories since I have learned to eat low calorie foods. But after I got stuck I've thought I'd try eating 2,000 3 days then go back to 1,000 3 days then back to 2,000 and so on.

Anyone know if doing so would help? Read online that changing how much you eat can help lose weight but anymore you can't tell what to believe.

My ideal weight is 240-250, (at this weight I would not be over weight)

You should never go below 1,200 calories otherwise you body will go into starvation mode. Keep consistent, eat breakfast, eat lots of fruits and veggies, and drink lots of water. Dont try and get your majority of calories from box or packaged meals--they arent as satisying. Also, youve dropped a lot of weight in a short period of time--weight loss defintely takes patience. Exercise, practice good nutrition, and you will be rewarded in good time.

Yeah, up your calories big time. You're actually putting more fat on your body with 1000 calories a day. If your body thinks it's starving, it stores food as fat. I was in your place (300+) and lost 71 pounds so far through eating 2400-2000 calories a day, along with some exercise.

Well I'll try going with 2,000 calories a day and see how that goes, get a decent amount of exercise already, live in the country and help my uncle load and unload 50pound bails of hay for 1-3 hours 5 times a week.

At one point while I was in high school I weighed 395 pounds but got to 325 for a while, but during high school I was a football player/ power lifter. After I graduated I stopped lifting and working out as much and the pounds just slowly came back.

One of my main problems is that since I was 325 once before I feel like I'm not making much progress till I am back to where I was before. Not sure if that makes sense but just the fact I've had to lose it once before and start again to get where I was is irritating.

Ive been in the same spot man, down and back up again. As long as you commit to a lifestyle change though, it should stay off forever this time!

Some good advice I've seen in this forum alot is to figure out your BMR (basic metabolic rate) and make sure you don't go below that. If you google BMR calculator several come up. There's also alot of really good info in all the stickies at the tops of the forum topics that go more in depth and give tips for figuring out what to set your calories at. Also in addition to the weight loss diary section here alot of people use . It's a great tool for keeping track and does alot of the calculating for you. Hope this helps, good luck and welcome to the forum.
