New and desperate

I am a stay at home mom and have battled depression for many years. Most days it can be difficult for me to get off the couch and the computer. I am not fond of being outside, and with crappy weather I want even less to be out there.
I can start a routine and last maybe a week, and then I get lazy and it falters to the point of nothing. I don't eat much through the day until dinner usually. Maybe some snacking here and there, but I drink a ton of Coke. I hate water. it makes me gag. Most juice I don't like. (ya, I'm picky lol) This has been a huge area for me because of my love for pop and my hate for water.
I also hate to cook, and would much rather stick something in the microwave to eat then make a meal. My husband is the cook, but he doesn't know much on cooking light.
I took dance for 15 years and would really love to get back into that, but I don't have the money, time and I don't want to be looking like this with women in great shape. We have a gym in town, but I can't afford it and I'm too embarrassed to go alone. I have tons of workout vids, like Jillian Micheals, NYC Ballet, Crunch....Its hard to fit in a workout, and shower afterward with a 2yo. So trying to work out feels almost impossible.
Any suggestions are welcomed. I just weighed myself and am exactly 200lbs. I can't believe it. I haven't lost the weight from having my daughter and she will be three in August. I still have a baby belly and have even been asked if I am pregnant. That was the worst.
I am discouraged by the weight gain, but I can't stand being this way anymore.

you can do this

Im so sorry to hear about your depression, its hard to lose weight with out tackling under lying problems. I put on weight when i was pregnant and when i lost my baby i felt i had gained all the weight for nothing but feeling depressed it still continued to pill on. Now a year on i finally feel ready to start losing the weight, you just need to make sure your in the right frame of mind and have enough motivation.

With trying to start a routine why not set your self one that you know you can stick to, just minor changes can make alot of difference. I hope you can find the help and support you need to find something that will work for you, good luck x-x,

Hopefully some advice that will help

Hello

Thats good advice the last person said. I to am sorry to hear about your depression.

I am 5 ft and used to weigh 154lbs. I too brought loads of fitness DVDs although most i used once others are still in the wrapper.

I too had little money so for xmas i asked for a stepper and a mat. I walk to town every morning to go to work and walk back when an offer of a lift is not on.
I can use my stepper while watching the programs i like and its a good way to burn calories. You can wear what you want so no preporation is needed therefore all it takes is anything from a few minutes to a few hours of watching tv.
I bought a mat to do sit ups and stretches.

Its alot cheaper than a gym membership and you can pull some of your confidence before exercising outside of your home.

If you cant afford a stepper then make a step so you can do step up and down workouts this also burns alot of calories.

Anyway now i go to the gym as feel happier and more confident and down to 128lbs, it is 2 years later though but it was worth the wait.

I also only drink certain squashes but you have to find one that you like to drink because by the sound of it to loose weight you have to drink more water based liquids rather than coke. Maybe try to aim for drinking the coke as a reward. Find a drink that you do like whether its herbal tea, squash, water, etc. Most things are better for you than coke.

Anyway good luck

Helen

depression

Hi...
so sorry to here about it...
Members before me said it all.
The only thing i would stress on is depression part.
Once Oprah said "All fat people have problems of there own..." i believe it.
I have seen some females here gaining weight just because depression ...
people have less friend BTW has more chance to gain...
its hardly happen the life of a party is bigboy or a big girl...

I also were facing depression because of series of heart breaks and i found my self increasing...binging is the only resting place and i needed that badly...

I am now trying hard to get out of it and i am sure it will help me weight loss..

may be you would like to try that...

Good luck...
hope it will help you.
