Hello.

I found this forum by chance while searching up exercise ideas for people who are obese.

Though I am not morbidly obese, I am in such a condition now that it has become very embarrassing to do many things (such as wearing swimsuits, shopping for clothes...) I've always been overweight, even as a child (very long story...), and I'm not even entirely sure what I'm supposed to weigh if I had been 'normal' weight to start with, but a 20 (going on 21) year old at a height of 5'4'' should not be weighing 243 pounds, and should not be feeling so old (my joints creak and pop, and everything starts aching after a while of standing or even moving around, my knees and back the worst.)

Granted, I was weighing much worse when I was taking my culinary classes to get my baking certificate, when I jumped from 220 to 270 in less than a year (probably over a matter of months). When I discovered this, I got really depressed over it, but forces of fate moved in such a way in that I had to start getting places on my own, which was (and still is) good, because I started walking more and taking public transit etc, which got me moving a lot more than I had been. Over the last year I have managed to lose thirty or so pounds (the lowest I got was 239 just after New Years), but I haven't been able to get any lower. Instead, I just frustrate myself when I bounce back and forth between 240 and 250.

Recently I started writing down what I ate in an observational process to see what my normal habits were, and was quite surprised and very embarrassed when I realized all the junk I eat; up to that point, I had thought I'd been eating fairly normally.

I am tired of feeling like a fifty year old woman (no offense to our fifty year ladies here). I want to feel healthy and toned and fit, which for me, will be a whole new thing, as I have never felt that way, in my entire life.

I'm hoping this forum can help boost my resolve some, I'm really going to need some support on this one.

Mostly, does anyone have suggestions where I can start? Upcoming in June I'm going to be having a very busy schedule, with two martial arts classes, a regular class, three days of work at one job and who knows what at the other job...

Suggestions, goals, tips, *anything* will help. :)

Thanks,

Neko
