Hi all!
My name is Eryn and I am a 23 year old from PA. I am a mother to 3 beautiful babies (5,4,2). I have a loving fiancee and a great family. I want to lose 50 pounds and be a better mommy, have a successful career and job I love. I am graduating school in 12 days! woo hoo! So many things in life will be changing including me. My oldest baby starts kindergarten this year (*tear*) and my other two will be in preschool. I will finally be working the job I love and we will be upgrading to a single house which is my ultimate goal for my family. We own a twin town right now, long story short... our neighbors are horrible. lol. ANYWAYYY... moving on... I have no friends who are going through what I am. Most of my friends are skinny, love to party or are just beginning families. I feel like I have no one who understands. I'm tired of being invited out to the bar or to the coffee shop for a double cup of lard! I have major problems staying on track and right now I feel so lonely. Anyone want to be friends? I am loyal, fun and a little nutty. Please love me, lol. *begging on knees* I promise to stick by your side, be your supportive motivator and not tempt you with ice cream. Can you help me with the same!? :)

Why do you have trouble staying on track? It's been my experience that people run into this problem because they put themselves on an entirely too restrictive a plan... and then give up and binge... if you forget the diet mindset and instead think about lifestyle change (which is good for your entire family... ) where you can incorporate your favorite foods and bring in new ones.... as well as moderate exercise... then you'll have no trouble staying on track.

Welcome to the site.. spend some time reading around the forum, there's a wealth of good info in the stickied threads.. Start yourself a diary below -it's a great way to have other's get to know you better... and read other's diaries so you can find someone that you click with...

Have fun while you're here and much success getting to where you want to be

thanks for the advice! I have trouble I think because I have issues with over-eating. I LOVE food. I LOVE taste. I get to a point where I obsessively think about and crave food. I don't have very good will power. I know people say I can control that but honestly I have not figured out how yet. I really want to and I hope this is the time I will find my self control. I do well for a time and then bam... something happens and I binge. I guess you call that an emotional eater? I'm done with that. I hope by coming here it will help me to write about it rather than do it. I started a diary earlier today so feel free people to go and write about the yummy HEALTHY foods you eat. I would love new ideas to keep my food love life interesting and spicy. yum...

How many calories a day are you allowing yourself and how are you keeping track of those calories?

That becomes a big factor with a lot of people -if they put themselves on a ridicuously low amount of calories for their current weight (ie 1200) then it becomes way too difficult...

I figured I'd stick with a normal 1500 and cut most of the carbs I usually eat. I'm adding in more fresh fruit and veggies. I want to up my cardio and activities more than "diet". I want to change my eating to good for me rather than which drive thru has the shortest line. I enjoy fruits and veggies I just think I get bored on how to prepare them. I LOVE to cook. Diets never work for me. I feel so jipped when I diet. When I feel like I'm missing out I go nuts. I'm eating 6 meals a day. Breakfast, snack(fruit or veg), lunch, snack (another fruit or veg) dinner and yet another snack of fruits or veggies. If I get bored I'll probably have a lower fat snack rather than a fruit on one of my snacks. I am going to keep track of the calories by writing them down and calculating it myself. I'm not sure if I should plan the whole day out ahead of time or just go with whatever fits in? I've been on almost every diet known to man I think and thought about medi-fast but I don't think I am overweight enough for it. My fiancee pointed out to me that I need to do it for real and not with a quick solution because that never works for me. Soooo... I guess I'll be playing outside a lot today. Now that school is almost over I won't be doing anymore eating and running.

You're nutty? He, he. Meet another "nutty!" :)

You have joined a forum with many friends.

Motivation forms from within one's self, and this can come in many forms from external stimuli as processed within.

You have all YOU need:

“I am, indeed, a Queen, because I know how to rule myself.”

Your goals will reflect what your mind allows. You are the brightest star in the sky, reach up and take it, and place it in your heart,.

The brightest star from the surface of the earth is the SPIRIT of a young woman, unbroken.

The most vicious vision is from a young woman with WILL formed from the same SPIRIT.

The most ferocious HEART formed from the same SPIRIT will never die

DREAMS surrounded with HEART, WILL, and an unbroken SPIRIT, can not be stopped

(Chillen)

Your body is willing in your application, your mind is consenting in your innovation, now connect the heart for dedication to meet your destination.

(One can move many mountains with correct spirit and mental toughness, and can create their own avalanche of rocks while trying to go up if one isn't careful.-Chillen)

I write this with the best intentions.

(The following is making a personal observation of myself, please I do not want anyone offended):

When I started, I was a fat tub of lard, with man boobs (and could have flipped them over my shoulder) and they could have easily fit into my wife's bra without a problem, I wore size 38 to 40 pants, I couldn’t walk around a block without breathing heavy, I could barely do 5 pushups, barely bench press 80 pounds; I was an old (46 year old) man grossly out of shape, until one day I got out of bed and back pain brought me to my knees and brought tears to my eyes; I said no more. I set a path to educate myself.

I got books from the local library, purchased books from various stores, did some research on the internet, and spoke to some knowledgeable persons I knew.

I made up my mind, and anyone can ask my wife, once my mind is made up, I can bend steel with it, chew pieces of it, and then spit out the pieces from my mouth, and ask for more.

I had two purposes: to prove that a mid forty and middle aged man can lose weight and have abs, and to show my kids what a determined heart can do.

This a brief synopsis. I have accomplished both, but it wasn’t easy.

I am nearing 47 years old, now. With 7.8% body fat. I am OLD past my prime, and got it done, and so can you.

Your Body is distilling your willing; wake up your Spirit to bring more milling, and engage your Heart to eliminate the unwilling.

No one can change yourself but you: either you want to change this or you don’t: your body don’t mind it's blind and you have REMOVE the venetian blind on your heart and spirit, that is undefined and is leaving your body behind. You have to entwine and combine to redefine to let yourself unwind.

Raise your want-o-meter and these important traits tend to follow in tandem.

Open up your eyes, stand up, wake the heck up, open your heart and let the will and desire flow in to your goal, and just see what happens in the gym when you do.

The mind can be a friend and/or foe, in either case you are in control of variances in the equation.

"Let your inner vision cultivate your ultimate exterior expression" —Chillen

"The strongest inner feeling that prevails will result in the exterior expression" –Chillen

Your cultivation and manifestation of thought accumulated within your reasoning will determine your outcome----Chillen

And, some last thoughts for the forum Sista:

YOU HAVE IN YOU TO ROCK!

LEARN TO LET GO OF THE OLD

Let me give the young woman a different perspective.

Strengthen your personal foundation, and you will ROCK, my Sista!

Let me give you some thoughts of mine on the concept of choosing:

If you HAVE to choose, its not a choice: Its a decision

If you WANT to choose, its not a choice: Its a desire

If you dont CARE, its not a choice: Its a reaction

Make the PRESENT perfect and you wont want to choose. Get a reserve of everything and choices will come to you. Let your VALUES choose for you, it is much simpler....really.....think about it.

Sometimes we hold onto ideas and things because we lack the faith in our ability to obtain from things newly developed.

This can lead to insecurity, and this can come from the inability to understand who and what you are.

If one lacks a true relationship with the self this incredible power within yourself will ALWAYS LEAVE YOU and can distort your self image.

You MUST get to the point where you realize that your true self---KNOWS no limits: that frankly you are capable of having, doing, or being anything you desire to be.

Sometimes people fail to tell themselves the complete and UTTER TRUTH; They pretent to be striving for goal C but are really striving for goal D through thoughts and attitude. And, when they earn goal D, they are completely amazed why they earned this one and not the other.

One of the MOST IMPORTANT THINGS that will make you earn your goal is:

ACTION, my Sista. Physical action, emotional action, and mental action, that is all focused as one unit toward the goal you desire.

Get out of your compfort zone and take the 3 elements of action and be ALL YOU WANT AND DESIRE AND MORE..........

Realize that you are like a builder, you need to "Understand" that your personal foundation is an investment in your future; its like a remodeling.

There will be major changes occurring while you diet and train, and its OKAY TO COMPLAIN, as long as you KEEP WORKING IT AT

I WISH YOU THE BEST in all that you set out to do, young lady!

ROCK ON!

A good diet, exersize, motivation and lots of determination is all you need.
Good luck on your weight loss.

I posted this to my log on the other forum, and want to share it with you. It was a response to another member.

From the moment I joined this forum, my sole motive and purpose was to make people feel good about themselves and realize they have all the "tools" within them to aspire and deliver to ones self. To help with all of my heart and give as much as I possible can, and that is it.

For what its worth, I want to share something with you, that I generally do not. Currently, I am a low carb diet (using the diuretic effect it gives) just to remove some (small amounts) of water, and then I am going to post some pics.

Like most persons on the forum, I love my carbs. However, the first few days were wreaking havoc on me (mentally and physically). But, I am doing GREAT! With this in mind, I always keep a history of my progress in my gym (my garage). I still have the hanging wrap around wire with the goal pic I wanted to look like, and the progress track that includes my progress pics inbetween the days and months, in my garage near my upright bike. In addition, just like I mentioned before, I have my starting pants (and its size) hanging in the garage. I have various quotes hanging on the garage walls. I am going to post a pic of this as well.

This is the place I go, when I need self-assistance.

And, if ONE looks at the following post "correctly" you should see my point when considering the previous (or last) paragraph:

The One
(By Chillen)

(A song (by Elton john) but slightly restructured, to apply to one's self to have meaning)

The One's state of mind shifts and what was once a priority may not necessarily be today.

Whenever I feel troubled, I go to my partner who "understands"

The One (YOU).

A spirit born of earth and water............

In the instant that you love someone (YOU)

In the second that the internal spirit hits

.....................Reality runs up your spine

And the pieces finally fit...............

And, realize all you ever needed is: The One.

The One. It’s the place where I have left my sweat, blood, over 30 pounds of unwanted tissue, and many tears. It whispers to The One. It reveals to The One what The One is really made of and rekindles the spirit of The One. It doesn’t allow The One to question it. It doesn’t allow The One to ever doubt it. It reveals the truth to The One. It shines the light on The One.

Then The One shall see Fire flying from the hands..............

It reveals the depth and character of The One and reveals the moral reserves.

It reveals the internal contents of The One, and tells The One:

There is no greater freedom, when you see your future in THE ONE.

The Spirit within The One never dies.

We have a hunger of the mind which asks for knowledge of all around us, and the more we gain, the more is our desire; the more we see, the more we are capable of seeing.

Turn your face to your shadow; you have this shadow due to your unique inner GLOW. Do not make a self-coffin, there will be no external shadow to SHOW.
(Chillen)
==========================================================
We can live one life or several different lives dependent upon the state of our mind.
(Chillen)

Sometimes, it only takes a short time to change some views, while other times, it can take much longer to change a person's view in certain matters. You will be constantly learning a lesson or two in life. And, there are lessons so big that totally make you rethink your entire position in life.

The size of the lessons that you learn in life do not matter. This same rule can also be applied to the paths that you have chosen before. Always keep in mind that you should be in charge of your life and your preceptive feelings.
Therefore, you should be able to change what you do not like. It does not matter what others have to say about you. You always have choices, if you are willing to see them.

Do not make an internal coffin. Rather apprehend a close friend; change your frame of MIND it will never lead you BLIND, and allow positive perception to UNWIND.
(Chillen)
==========================================================
Additional thoughts:

Every decision you make in life is based on your belief system. To open your mind, start to list your fundamental beliefs, and for each one ask yourself why you believe it. Then ask yourself whether you could imagine being you if you didn't exactly believe it any more, but believed something marginally different. Then marginally different from that. Pick a belief a week and work at it. Ask some really good friends what they believe and how they acquired their beliefs. Understand this - your belief system is absolutely unique to you. Your friend's belief system is unique to them. An open mind is comfortable with differences, and also a variety of lenses to view an issue.
==========================================================
Change the way you view the power of feeling down: Instead of it having power over you, use it to empower yourself:
Apprehend this feeling and embrace it; feel its power. Turn this power against itself and use this force to enable outward action of elimination.
(Chillen)

You have at your personal disposal all the tools you need for the elimination process:

Change your frame of mind along with diet and training.

I posted this for another forum member, but I feel it can benefit you in some way. NEVER DOUBT you have the ability.

EDIT:

An educated mind knows that the body was biologically adjusting to the the low carbs, and when knowing this and feeling the effects, the MIND has to overcome the body adaption. Thus revealing the abolute POWER of mind-body connection.

Best wishes,

Chillen

I know the journey. It can be tough trying to figure yourself out in the process of "earning" your goal. I want persons to feel good, and attempt to spark the fire "within" to enable one to process external stimuli for one's life and fitness goal. All of our "motivational soup" can be different from one person to the next. But, boy, if you figure this out. Its explosive.

And, I leave you with thought:

Is their a Diet Pill? Lets see. He, he. :)

Good advice is below. Diet pills dont work.

Save your money and invest time and effort into yourself, and you will be rewarded a thousand times more than the money spent on diet pills:

The Magic Pill:

There is a magic (fat burner) pill.

One walks in their...Magic Pill....everyday.

Its you and the body.

And, every time you continue your diet and exercise, you take one pill out of the box toward your goal.

Yes, there is a magic pill. Its you. And, you walk within it everyday.

An opposite Thought:

A Poison Pill

One walks as a Poison Pill.....everyday.

Every time you make an excuse to not exercise (when scheduled) or inappropriately cheat on the diet, you take one pill from this box against your goal

Yes, there is a poison Pillbox, and you walk in this everyday you make an inappropriate choice when dealing with the natural human impulses of the body.

Answer: Be the Magic Pill.
(Chillen)
=========================================================
You can be friend or foe to yourself and sometimes both. Think about it.

The truest form of wisdom is learning to deal with yourself.

Motivation is "within" and is subject to various "external stimuli" as interpretated and processesed within by the person receiving it.
You can limit your motivation or enhance your motivation by the things you read, hear, and see. Keep your perception untainted and free and a whole new perception field will open to your personal amazement.

ROCK ON!
