Needing a little help and guidance

Hi, I'm Lindsey, and I'm 17. I've been dieting and excercising since October, and so far I've gone from wearing a size 24 shirt to being a 20, but I'm having problems with my hips and stomach (I'm still stuck in the same ol size 28 jeans that made me start to begin with!). My goal is to get down to an 18 by May and down to a 14 or a 16 by the end of August when I'll go off to college. I've been overweight all my life and I do not want to start my adult life still only being able to shop in the plus size department.

Hi Lindsey! I think it's great that you have goals in mind, and it's AWESOME to start out slim in college and make a good impression. I was still a bit overweight when I started college, but a swimsuit model compared to how I am now!

I will say though, try to keep your goals reasonable... depending on your body type and your metabolism and many, many other factors, your goal of fitting into a size 18 by May might be too ambitious. I don't want to discourage you, but mostly I don't want you to GET discouraged if your goals are too lofty. Remember that this process really takes patience, and also remember that 1-2 pounds per week is a healthy weight loss rate.

Try not to focus too much on size, and instead focus on how much better you'll feel and look when you lose even one or two sizes. Size is just a number, after all... and any weight loss is an achievement. Good luck! I am rooting for you and I look forward to hearing about how you're doing.

Hi Lindsey and welcome :) i hope you'll reach your goal and feel better and more confident about yourself. Goodl luck!
