Need2BSmaller's Journal

Thanks again for all the help

You know who would give the best advice for all of this..... Steve. Steve usually drops into "The Harsh Turth" section to answer people, so if you like, maybe you can have him look over your eating plan and he can do his magic. Steve's awesome. Just by asking him questions and whatnot, he's helped me to lose 10 lbs so far.... so yah, I'm keeping him around. HA! (And he's a cool guy... not some judgmental prick like most CPTs.) Right now, he's away on a business trip, but he'll be dropping in whenever he has a chance to.

cool and thanks for all the help so far. I will stick with this till I can touch base with Steve then. I want to get to the other threads but I am going through the journal section right now and bathing in others success stories :)

Hey there!
I was just reading through your diary and I think you are brave too. It takes a lot of courage to try to reduce your weight to less than half of what it is!
It will be a very long way but I think you have the right attitude. Walking is a good start and don't eat fast food!! Watch supersize me, that will take you off fast food for at least a week and when you crave it again watch it again!! In fact when I fancy something disgusting like McD I just remember when in the movie he eats that huge meal and just vomits and I tell you, I do not want to go there again. In fact if you can, rip that part of the movie and whenever you feel like junkfood watch that sequence.
I tell you you will go off junk food in about 3 days!!!

Thank you again for reading and commenting on my diary, I lived for a long time secluded in a world in which 120 pounds was "morbidly obese" and when I came out of it and suddenly faced the "real" world man... I was a bit afraid of really big people, I could not understand them (how should I, I weighed only 90 pounds or so). I started to get to know a few and I started to understand them and on here I can see how string you people are. Most of you had to face a lot of looks and even insults all your life, it must be really hard and the more I know the more I admire your courage to try and change.
Good luck and I will read you a lot I think! Love, Cat

I think that you are doing great. I know it is a frustrating process - but it sounds like you have great plans for it. I am a student, too, and there are so many constant struggles and tempations that go along with it. I was talking to someone today and she pointed out that so many students have such bad habbits - and it is so HARD not to be one of them (especially when almost everyone around you has bad eating habbits).

I know you can do it! You have my 100% support!

thanks Cat and cat :)

well I am half way through the work day and right on schedual I have a little over 1000 steps of my 2500 goal and will be working 4 over tonight so I may even shoot for a couple extra little walks and take a 3000 step day right off the bat.,

OK I think I said it somewhere but if I didn't I will be holding off on starting my lifting until next monday but I did lift today lightly I am just trying to find the right weight to start at for my lifts as it has been a while since I worked out at all.

In the Weight Room
(Mon, Wed, Fri)

Bench Press 3 sets of 6 to 10 reps
Close Grip Bench Press 3 sets of 6 to 10 reps
Barbell Curls 3 sets of 6 to 10 reps
Military Press 3 sets of 6 to 10 reps
Lat Pull Downs 3 sets of 6 to 10 reps
Leg Press 3 sets of 6 to 10 reps
Calves Raises 3 sets of 6 to 10 reps

This is the basic workout I will be doing. I usually do ! or 2 warm up sets for major body parts that I don't count on this list. When I get into the grove I will use a weight say 150lbs for bench press untill I can do 3 sets of 10 then I add 5lbs (2.5lbs on each side) and go again till I can do 3 sets of 10 and that is how I increase my weight. This week I will be just going up everyday and trying to find a weight that is good for 3 sets of 10 reps. I will stick with weight I am able to push for a couple weeks then start pushing myself more.

That's a good way to find out what kind of weight you want. Don't worry, the soreness goes away.... or you get used to it, not sure haha.

Hi

I had to post a message to wish you good luck.

I have found the story of Charlie Walduck's weight loss really inspirational - and wondered if you may find it like that too.

He went from 616 pounds (i.e. 44 stones) to 196 pounds (i.e. 14 stones) in two years. He even runs marathons.

He made me believe that anything was possible.

Whenever I hit a plateau I fire up the image and read it. I spent 20 years believing that some things were impossible.

Take care
Best wishes
Margaret

Morning fellow whose name I have no fackin' idea is (HA!),

yah I noticed you left a messsage for Steve and he already replied. I told you homeboy is awesome. Anyways.... you know, I was rereading your fitday jpg and I just have a few comments:

1. Believe me, I love myself some cheese.. however, do you really need to eat 5 oz of cheddar cheese? That's 500 calories right there. With 500 calories you can make yourself a lean turkey breast sandwhich with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mustard on whole wheat bread for ~350 calories and say a cup of homemade minestrone soup ~150 cal. What I'm trying to say is you want to consume your calories wisely.. besides a sandwhich and soup is so much more satisfying than a hunk of cheese, right? ;)

2. Hmmm... not a big fan of veggies? haha If you can, try getting more of them into your diet. Not only are they low in calories and you can eat more, but they'll help you to well.. ya know.. crap. haha! Fiber is your friend. Also, it'll make your tummy feel fuller for longer periods of time. Try broccoli... spinach... salads (without all the extra crap- ie: blue cheese, croutons, bacon bits)...

Alright, doll.... I'm off to blast some music in the house, so I can dance around and clean. haha! Ciao.

Names Brad lol

and man you are perceptive maybe a little to perceptive ha ha

I actually love veggies (cooked) not so much raw and I am still dealing with that busy schedual for another month. The cheese was high because I do love cheese and find it helps me get some protein and I usually eat a high fat high protien high cal breaky cause I can take time before school to cook an omelete sit and enjoy it. I will try and add some veggies to the morning omlete maybe that will kill 2 birds with one stone.

The thing with the cals from the cheese is even with all that cheese I did not hit my min of 3000 cals yesterday. I know it sounds crazy but I find it hard to get my cals somtimes without eating to much fat or not enough protein. O.k. that sounded even more crazy when I typed it. I find when my diet is high is dairy ie/ cheese (the real kind), milk and eggs I can keep my cals in check. When I eat a high carb lean meat substitute like the sandwich you mentioned It does not keep me satisfied the same way for the same amount of cals. I know fiber is suppose to make you full but I have never noticed. I do take a fiber supp when I am below 20 grams a day. I also take a multi and fish oil but take the fiber with last meal if I am low far away from the other supps.

Thanks again for the good Ideas and I will try to get more veg;s is I am eyeing a couple peppers today with my chicken breast adn will eat alot more come nov when I have more time to perpare them. Cause raw veggs

Brad

Hey you!
You sound like your doing great!
I am a cheese lover to and am trying to cut more of it out of my diet, it kills the calorie intake. It really does .. I usually add about five hundred calories into fitday just by eating cheese. Too much cheese! lol I am supposed to take some in, because of my pre diabeties...but otherwise the cheese gives me saturated fat, which is the worst fat you can take in..

I hope you figure out a balance, I still am too!

best wishes hun
Keep trecking

always

GOOD NEWS GOOD NEWS lol I now am more sure then ever that much of the 20lbs I had gained back was from the fast food (high fat high cals) and the sodium from it and not drinking water. I am down to 444 lbs today. I know its water but it is water I was retaining from not drinking water and taking in tons of salt. I have a diet soda addiction that I am working on and that is horrible for sodium add that I was eating 3 or 4 fast food meals daily and salt is through the roof so just 5 days of cutting that crap out and moving again plus drinking my old standby of 1 gallon of water and I am down 6 lbs and the walk to work today was done without a rest stop. I was spent and sore in the back and legs but I had been stopping twice.

I should explain I live one street over from the factory where I work. It is exactly .55 of a mile from my fron door to my fork truck lol. Since putting back on the weight I have had to again start resting once or usually twice on this walk (sitting down for 2 or 3 mins till my back and knees felt better. When I weighed 488lb and started walking in (until then I drove the 1/2 mile everyday:rolleyes:) I had to rest 4 times and by the time I was in the low 440's I could make it all the way and when I got to the 430's it was not hard at all. today is the first day since getting back up to the 450's a month ago I made it without resting at all. I am sore but it was worth pushing myself.

I also did the evening 1 mile walk away the lbs video earlier and have walked about 500 steps at work already towards my 2500 :). I ended up walking about 4000 by the end of the day yesterday so I am going to aim for that daily if I work 4 over again today.

Alright thats all for now but I am so much happier then I was 5 days ago. There are other aspects of my personal life that I am hating but I am trying to use them as fuel to walk more and lose the weight. They have not really got better in 3 or so years so maybe when I am healthier I will be better able to deal with them.

Hey Brad,

congrats with the pounds lost. Niiiiccceeeee..... Without a doubt in my mind, if you keep up what you're doing, you're going to start losing like a mad man. :D Also... nice job with getting to work without stopping. As long as you're not pushing yourself to the point of almost wanting to pass out, then it's all good. Just listen to your body, which I'm sure you're a pro at doing by now. ;)

As for your personal life, I'm sorry to hear things are a bit shitty. However, focus on yourself for the time being and you'll get through things easier when you're ready to focus your attention on those "issues/ problems."

-Sheryl

PS By the way... cute "cheese comment" up there,
you little smart ass! hahaa And believe me, you're doing
fabulous, doll.
PSS I didn't scold you, you brat! HA! That's it.. from now on, I
freaking will. ;) jk

actually you are totally right because as I get down I am not going to be able to keep spending 500 cals on cheese its just not practical in the long run so I need to start triming it to managable levels now. If I could bring myself to like raw veg I would be ok but I honestly don't ever see that happening outside of tomato's cukes and peppers I can't eat raw veg so they will have to wait till schools up :)

I am really happy actually and success in this battle makes the other things more managable.

I do like a good scolding though lol :boxing:

I had accidentally came across the "Supersize" book written by the guy who ate all Mcdonald's for a month. I learned so much about the ingredients in those foods and how one's body responds to what is being consumed, let alone the exorbitent amount of calories. I have not eaten anything but an oocasional salad from a fast food place since then. Even my 10 year old daughter won't eat fast food any more and she only read 2 chapters.

Information is KEY! Keep up the good work!

lol my addiction to that crap is horible I swear this is the truth it is so bad I watched the movie (didn't know there was a book) and after it was over I was craving a Big Mac. I swear this is the truth and it is really insane but true. I have not ate any fast food in 5 days now and I feel way more energetic. My diet for the last couple of months or so literally was almost the same as the guy in the movies but with more varitey of fast food being the only difference.

HI Needstobesmaller, welcome on board! I was happy to read such an uplift in your spirits on your last post. You need to stay positive and ALWAYS be excited (happy) About your accomplishments, be it little or big. If you lose an inch AWESOME, if you lose 1/2 pound AWESOME, no matter the size of a job well done, your earning it therefore you deserve it, treat yourself like a champ and you will be a champ!! By the way, I love the color of that vest in the picture, so SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will agree with whoever it was several pages back that mentioned Water, water, water is a KEY ingredient in any weight loss program. And I know a guy who lost over 150 pounds in a year, by doing nothing else but walking ever day and he first started out by just walking up to the end of his road, then ever week he would extend it another block, now he's walking several miles a day and he's shrinking down. It only takes small steps to reach the top and that way you won't have to worry about slipping and falling back down those steps. Take your time, and enjoy your journey. I'll be by to check on you. Later gator!!
Kim

You will see, you will begin to hate the thought of fast food after a while. I have not eaten any since June and now I can't even imagine a situation where I would go eat fast food. It makes me sick, and I was an addict.

Good for you on losing those pounds, keep up the great work!!

Thanks miss ladybug that is amazing. I don't know if I can knock out 150lbs this year but I am definatly going to try and walk a little farther everyday. Kind words like those in your post really help thank you so much.
