Need to make a concerted effort...

HI everyone,
I just found out I have a surgical consult on the 19th of February; and even though I have lost a fair amount of weight; I would still like to drop at least another 20 pounds before I see him. I believe it will possibly help him whilst examining me, if he doesn't have to wade through the excess weight on my abdomen. Also, I know some Dr's have issues with doing surgery on larger patients, due to the associated risks.
I know this seems like a big ask, but I would really like some encouragement to help me push on and do this.
Thanks everyone.

What's the surgical consult for?

Why not start yourself a diary and that way you can keep all your thoughts in one place -it's nice to go back to it and see where you've come from..

Just keep doing what you've been doing and you will take the weight off... you've done very well so far

HI maleficent,
Thank you for the wonderful idea! I think I will start two diaries; one for the weight loss, and another for the Dr.
I have been having pain near my belly button and down into the lower right quadrant. I have also had an assortment of associated symptoms, which can point to many conditions, and ultrasounds and blood tests have been inconclusive. My Dr. refered me to a surgeon to determine whether it is my bowel, or something else. Also, whilst investigating the afore mentioned symptoms, two gallstones were found on one of the ultrasounds. One stone is impacted in the neck of the gallbladder, and the Dr. has to detemine if I should have my gallbladder removed. Personally, I would prefer not to have it removed if I can dissolve it naturally; but we will see what he has to say.
To be honest, I am not looking forward to the prospect of one, possibly two surgeries, in the coming months; as I am only 8 and a half weeks post-op; from a hysterectomy due to Chronic Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (Cause unknown), which I had for 3 years; Adenomyosis and Endometriosis.
If this was too much info, I apologise.
Thanks for your supportive words, I appreciate them very much.

Best wishes,
Elizabeth-Rose

You can do it! :D When it comes to (non-neurotic :p) fitness and/or health goals, any reason is a good reason.

Also, best wishes on your health, there.

HI [Focus]
Thanks for the encouragement and the well wishes; I appreciate it. Are you sure only non-neurotic reasons are ok??? Bugger! Hehehe.
I have to say, you and mal have fantastic avatars! That cat is adorable with the fly on its nose...lol...in fact, it reminds me of a photo I have of my husband on our wedding day!!!

Take care and look forward to tracking your journey...along with everyone elses.

:hug2:Best of wishes to you Elizabeth-Rose!! I also hope that you do not have to have surgery and that the stone will dissolve naturally. Here's to good news on the 19th :cheers2: Until then, I wish you the best of success with weight loss!!:grouphug:

Thanks pink clouds:grouphug:
How are you doing today?
I hope it dissolves too...unfortunately; from what I can gather, they quite often like to remove the gallbladder when the stones are impacted in the neck...some complication or another can arise...can't recall off hand. Time will tell.
All the best.

I am good Elizabeth-Rose. Thank you for asking! How are you doing today :D

You know....when I was really young, I was reading this medical encyclopedia (where is the nerd emoticon?) and I read about gall stones. At that time they were beginning to use the laser in medicine and they actually used it to dissolve the stones. Later in life, I had a friend who had her gall bladder removed due to stones, and I always wondered why they didn't laser them out. I guess through research they must have found it to be terribly unhealthy and possibly a bit toxic to dissolve it so rapidly. I can understand about the impacting at the neck, maybe it is blocking the flow of essential fluids and could worsen with time. I just don't understand why they never think of removing the stone instead of removing the entire gall bladder. Maybe medicine is not that advanced yet. I know I am a far cry from a medical expert, I am even a far cry from a novice, and I am not posing these questions to cause any annoyance but I just never understand it.

I will continue to hope that you will be able to remain healthy without it being removed.:hug2:
