Need to lose Fat (but not weight though) :)

First of all apologies for a long post. Apologies if such questions are asked already and have been answered else where in the forum. I am new here so still finding it difficult to move around.

I am Male with:

Weight: 141lbs
Height: 157cms
BMI: 21.4

Although my BMI is normal and I am happy with the weight, I feel this weight is not completely muscle weight but also fat weight. I have fat in belly area and hips. Now my aim is to cut down this fat. That said, I should not lose weight which means I must replace the fat weight with muscle.

So this brings me to my first question:

1. How can I cut down that fat so that I can build up more muscle to replace it?

Moving on..I started using a "diet planner" app on my mobile which sugested me to use 1450 calories per day. However, I am finding it difficult to eat that many calories.

I am an Indian so prefer white rice and curry as both my lunch and dinner. I skip breakfat almost everyday but take a cup of costa latte. I know this is not a good diet but thats how I was brought up. Even if I add up all my meals and coffee I was not taking 1450 calories. If I start taking in 1450 calories..I will defnitely start putting on weight.

This brings to my next questions:

1. Looking at my normal diet I was not taking 1450 calories but still I have some fat in my belly and hips. Why did I have that fat when I am not even taking the minimum required calories.
2. Why was I asked to take 1450 calories whereas it actually makes me gain weight when compared to the food I take now.

I hope I was clear with my questions.

I look forward to hearing from you guys...

Regards,
Nene.

Hi, nene4wl. You and I are in somewhat the same boat. I am not overweight but I am not happy with what I see. I have a little stomach fat that just won't seem to go away. I would like to gain some muscle weight and tone in the arms and stomach. I ordered P90x and I plan on using it soon. I just have to find time. I believe that if I'm consistent with the exercise and drink plenty of water I will get the results I want.

I think your underestimate your calories. 1450 cals a day for a male is almost starving... the normal is about 2000-2200.

hi - 157 cm is really short dude - it's 5'1 which is tiny for a guy - you sound like you're still a kid.

I wouldn't recommend heavy weight lifting because that will stunt your growth. In fact, I wouldn't even worry about trying to build muscle-mass right now until you're fully grown. (unless you want to stay at 5'1 for the rest of your life).

If you're just a small adult, I'd say start weight training & drink protein shakes.
