You said you weigh 390 lbs right? If you actually bothered to read any of the sticky posts you'd see how we can give a reasonably close estimate of how many calories you should eat. Even w/out knowing your height and age to do a full Harris-Benedict calculation, we have been around long enough that we know that someone who is 390 lbs needs a certain # of calories a day to be healthy and to lose weight at a safe rate (which is approximately 1% of your bodyweight per week). How can any of you calculate my BMI or how much I can lose in what time without knowing more about my body?
Um, no. We edit the posts to remove (a) links, (b) requests to "PM me for the link" and (c) Mod bashing. All of those are against the posted rules. We are REQUIRED as part of our jobs as Mods to remove those things. If you don't like it, take it up with the Admin.Moderators actually edit the posts to show their beliefs, they aren't just enforcing the "rules". These posts should be an open forum and people can have their own opinions...leave them alone
So using the Harris-Benedict equation, based on that information, I come up with a BMR of 3501 calories a day and a maintenence of 4814 (assuming you're lightly active). For whoever wants to truly crunch the numbers and not speculate; I'm 6'5", 33 years old white male, my previous prime weight was 245, very proportioned, built big and carry weight well.
If you wanted to lose healthily, you could cut that maintenance figure by 30% and come up with 3369 calories per day, which would put you at a deficit of around 1500 calories per day. That would give you approximately 10,500 calories deficit per week, or about 3 lbs per week. You could even cut by 40% and eat 2888 calories per day, which gives you a daily deficit of 1925. That equals a weekly deficit of 13,478 calories, or right about 4 lbs per week.
That would be a healthy and safe rate of loss (the afore mentioned 1% of your bodyweight per week). Of course as you lose weight, that 1% figure goes down ... so your weight loss will slow as you lose more weight.
So maybe, if you took the time to read the sticky posts, you'd see where we're getting the information we're sharing with you ... instead of just blindly accusing us of not knowing what we're talking about.
