Need to drop a few by Dec! Help please!!

Hi! Im 23yrs old and i am approx. 5'5". I was weighting 147 a few month ago but since i had altered my diet and added exercise into my routine, i dropped few pounds. i now weight 143 lbs. My goal weight is 135 lbs. i would like to get as close as possible to my goal before my b-day on Dec 3. Is this goal reachable within this time? And please give me some hints on how to get there faster! My current workouts consists of walking/jogging and Taebo basic training and Taebo abs. What foods should i stay away from/become more friendly with in order to reach my goal? PLEASE HELP!!

I believe that that goal is achieveable but others may beg to differ?

I think it basically involves a very very clean diet and lots of cardio, more than just walking, some jogging. Try doing this in the mornings as ur insulin levels are at their lowest, which means u will tap ino your fat quicker. Try going jogging for a minimum of 20 minutes non stop. But infact whcih is better is HIIT. If you dont know what this is do a search, theres heaps on it!

Well for sure stay away form sodas. Maybe count ur calories? For breakfast have oatmeal (traditional) and try and cut most sugars out of ur diet. Of corse we all know to stay away from fast foods, fatty and fried foods and stuff like cake and white bread.

Yeh basically just eat very very clean with cardio and im sure u wil be there in no time!

Though it would help if you were to give us information on what ur diet is and more info on ur exercise plan.

gotta agree with tim, and i also believe you can reach the goal weight, but it will take dedication. a few tips: no fast food PERIOD. diet sodas only, if you must. lot's of water - a 10oz glass with every meal in addition to anything else you drink. no cookies, cakes, pie, candy, chips, etc. do a 2 mile run, 40 pushups (assuming your a male), 40 leg-lifts/crunches every morning before you have breakfast, which should be oatmeal (as pointed out), or an egg beaters omelet with some spinach leaves thrown in, or some similar foods. lunch maybe some cereal (you can mix several types) like bran, grape nuts, any of kashi's cereals, special k, total, etc. no kid's cereals. and use low cal/low fat soy milk for the ceral, or fat free cows milk. for dinner stay light - lot's of fish, or chicken, steamed veggies, go light on rice, pasta, etc. think about everything you eat, read labels. this all becomes easier with time, and you'll see some spectacular results if you stick to it. one last thing, make this a permanent part of your life and you wont have to diet at all.

8 pounds in 4 weeks is perfectly respectable goal. Healthy weight loss should be done at a rate no faster than 2 pounds/week.

The suggestions given above are excellent. You cannot possibly drink too much water (well, technically you can, but you're not going to be able to). For your weight and assuming you're going to be getting into some regular activity I suggest 70-90 fluid ounces of water daily. Set this as a goal and do your best to drink that much water daily and it will have a number of positive effects (including curbing your appetite, keeping you hydrated, and keeping you up and around getting more water and going to the bathroom).

Walking is excellent, I suggest an hour walk a day if you can fit it in. Jogging/Running/Elliptical or whatever other cardio you feel like doing is great also. Any form of exercise is going to help.

Your diet over the next 4 weeks (and ultimately over the course of your life) is going to be the most important factor, of course. No matter how you slice it things are always going to come down to this. There are approximately ~3500 calories in a pound. For a 2 lb/week loss you're going to need to get your body to utilize 1000 more calories per day than you take in. Period.

My suggestion is get a free account at and use this to find out your BMR, AMR, and help keep track of your calorie intake. The number of calories you should eat daily is going to depend on how active you are, and fitday should be able to help you get a handle on this.

Just remember, weight loss is always going to come down to two simple factors: Diet and Exercise. You will get out of any fitness program or schedule a proportional amount to how much you put in. If you're serious about exercise and diet you will be able to reach your target weight in the time specified. Good luck!

I'm going to plug Trainer Lynns site for her here... It's great and right now she has a 28 day challange you should look into it. Even if you don't take the challange it has great advice for getting on the right track. I really suggest that you check it out it'll be a great help it has been for me. :)
