Ok, so i have mostly been slightly overweight during my life. I'm 17 years old and my weight has been up and done. Last year i was in medium and i felt great but still thought i needed to loose another two stones or so.

Anyway, a year on, and it's all piled back on. I'm 17 stone and i am really depressed, clothes don't even fit well, and i have completely lost my confidence when going out.

Facts - 17 year old, just over 6ft, 17 stones.

Summer is not really far away, and i really want to lose atleast 4 - 6 stones by july at least. Would this be possible?

I'm planning on doing around 4 hours a day gym sessions - regarding that, do you think i should just stick to the cardio, walking up the stairs machine and on the running machine? I would love to tone up but that's something i should think about when i lose 5 stone atleast.

Most of my weight is on belly, chest (the dreaded manboobs) bum and back, and legs, which is the worst possible place to have your weight on.

Also how much littres of water should i be drinking per day? Is it also good to get to sleep around 10ish? thanks!

4 hours a day is likely to cause injury unless you build up to it. wouldn't recommend it unless you're training for sports.

the weight you are trying to reach is quite lean for your height. 4-5 stone might be feasible but that last 1-2 stone would likely take longer. the leaner you get the harder it is to shift the remaining weight.

build up to an hour of cardio 5 days a week (rest and recovery is just as important as the exercise itself). if that stops giving you results change to a different cardio exercise, if none of them offer any gains consider doing two separate 1 hour cardio sessions 5 days a week.

Doing weights exercise can offer a short term metabolic boost and increased muscle mass means more calories burnt at rest. in other words you've nothing to lose by doing weights and a lot to gain. start out with weights sessions 3 non consecutive times a week and generally aim for 3 sets of 12 reps for any exercise. increase weights in the smallest increments you can when you can do more than 12 reps on the 3rd set.

exercise will make you more thirsty than normal, make sure you have a couple litres to hand during strenuous workouts.

Exercise is good, but consider your diet as well.
