need opinions- my butt!!(during-be nice!)

ok-i have 3 kids, i'm 28, 5'1, 110lbs, and am desperately trying to shrink my butt, get rid of cellulite, tighten and tone. i think i am on the right track with diet, and exercise, it's just gonna take some time. i'm patient as long as i get it done by summertime!! my abs could use some toning too, but i can do that easily once i focus on it. i can't unfortunately tighten the stretched stomache skin from childbirth. any opinions or advice? (i hpoe i uploaded these pics correctly!!)

Ummm, I think you look great :D What does your diet and training look like? It just may need tweaked a little. Post it and I am sure you will get great suggestions.

i can't help but think of that statement "if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all"! where are my replies-i need help!!. so, my diet is 1400-1600 cals daily. i eat clean(chicken, fish, veggies, eggs, etc...) i run 3.5 miles 3 times weekly. i do it in about 30min, but i'm trying to improve my speed. i get on my b-friend's bo-flex now and then and do some leg curls(15lbs for the hamstrings, 30lbs for the front of my thighs). i squat as often as possible throughout the day(like when i pick up my kid's toys, or while watching t.v.-whenever that happens) i've been struggling with cellulite and being bottom heavy forever. i didn't decide to start working on it til october. i see a difference(sorry-no before pics), but nothing major. i would really like some opinions and input. cmon guys-speak up!! thanx!!

Are you strictly using the boflex or are you a member of a gym? Also, there is a ton of information on HIIT for cardio purposes...I'd recommend using it in lieu of your low intensity steady state 1-2 sessions a week.

I think from where you're at now, you can make some good ground by summer time.

Keep in mind that squatting down to pick stuff up will give you not the results compared to squatting with weight. Leg curls and extensions will do little for tightening up the glutes.

looks good...I recommend stiff leg deadlifts, and more pictures :p

not the ass of somebody who's had 3 kids.:)

I think you look great too..and I KNOW how hard that can be to get your body where you want it after kiddos. I agree with the deadlifts. I'm doing some bulgarian split squats and think they're great. Those are effective and you can do them without a gym if you don't belong to one. One of those yoga moves where you're lying on your tummy and bring your arms straight up and legs straight up at the same time and hold (think superman) is a good one too. HIIT a couple times a week would be effective for you as well, since you already run. Summertime will be no problem for you. ;)

Like you said it just takes time for everything to come in 100%
You seem to have the diet down good, Make sure to eat 5-6 meals a day.

I agree free weight squats will be the best thing plus HIIT cardio...

Looking good, just keep it up! ;)

I'd say you're doing pretty good: three kids and not a single stretch mark. You could lose a 2-3 percentage points of body fat, but otherwise, nice azz.

o.k- i'll post my diet

9:am-(i'm a late sleeper) bowl of special k red berries(everyday)
10:30- 11:00-banana or apple
1pm- 1/2 can tuna, mixed with 1 tbsp lowfat mayo, onion & celery,on 1/2 ww pita with lettuce &tomato. sometimes i have a turkey sandwich with two slices whole wheat bread, 3 slices turkey, 1 slice white american cheese, mustard and lettuce&tomato.
3pm- handful of almonds or walnuts or a kashi trail mix bar.
6pm- 1 chicken cutlet, steamed broccoli, and 1/2 small potato(boiled), or i have about 4 oz salmon, steamed vegetable and about 1/2 cup brown rice. i also try to add a tossed salad with some low cal dressing.
i usually run about 8:30pm, so i have a peice of string cheese after or some more nuts. i always have a cup of green tea before bed.

my meals are never the same, but lunches are always some kind of sandwich or ocasionally soup, dinner is always a meat, stemed veggie, and some kind of healthy carb, and my snacks are usually fruit, nuts, ww crackers, and ocasionally a low fat treat like fig newtons or baked chips. i only drink water(all day)

i would really like to shed just a few pounds, but i just can't. i don't have a gym membership(no time or money) i'm doing whatever i can, but it's just not working. I also take birth control pills. any chance thet could be affecting my efforts? I appreciate everyones suggestions. And by the way(jsbeckton), i have two sisters-both married:)

Not enough protein. Milk is 1g/fl oz, but women should be getting 15-20g/feeding.

10:30- 11:00-banana or apple

Lacks protein. Add some string cheese or beef jerky. You also need some good dietary fats: mono unsat, poly unsat and sat fat.

Nuts, natural PB, olives and olive oil are good sources of mono fats.

Flax seed, flax seed oil and grapeseed oil are good sources of poly fats.

Animal products (meat, milk, cheese) etc are good sources of sat fats and protein.

1/2 can as in 1/2 6oz can or what? I'll have 1 3oz can of white albacore tuna (20g protein) and throw in raw spinach, some cheese, pb and such and it's good.

3pm- handful of almonds or walnuts or a kashi trail mix bar.

you have your fats, but where is the protein?

6pm- 1 chicken cutlet, steamed broccoli, and 1/2 small potato(boiled), or i have about 4 oz salmon, steamed vegetable and about 1/2 cup brown rice. i also try to add a tossed salad with some low cal dressing.

Better.

I also take birth control pills. any chance thet could be affecting my efforts?

I think so because of the extra estrogen.

thanx for the information. i was under the impression that almonds and walnuts have a lot of protein-? the trail mix bars i have contain 6 grams. i will definately add more protein to my diet. i may use a diffrent form of birth control for a little while as well. i have definately had hard times in the past with shedding baby weight while on birth control. i've been on it for so long now that i didn't consider it sould be a problem. i hope it works!!

3 kids and that's what you look like? Muy Caliente. :D

I suggest you look at John Berardi's posts on the 7 habits, lean eating part 1 and part 2, and defeating dietary displacement part 1 and part 2. Your meal-specific macronutrient balance is wonky. (Short version: eat 15-20g lean protein at every meal. Vegetables too. Nuts are not a significant source of protein, and by no means lean.)

The posts above are long, but good solid info. For more, check out this link.

Spend half an hour wading through them. It's well worth your time, if you even half-ass care about getting results. :)

Some quick thoughts:

Drinking green tea before bed is a silly thing to do..putting caffeine in your system before trying to sleep = counterproductive.

You're not getting any protein when you wake up in the morning, or at all until 1pm. That's brutal. 15-20g of protein should be sliding down your throat hole every time you eat. This includes snacks.

Never mind about the almonds and bar. It looks good (I must have been tired at the time).

thanx guys. by the way, the green tea i drink is decaffinated:) i went and bought myself a big box of Powerbar protein bars today. i will be replacing a snack or two with these. i didn't get to read the latest information (posted by focus), biut as soon as i have the time, i certainly will. i appreciate the posts!!

Decaffeinated tea is worse. The process by which they decaffeinate it is known to produce carcinogens, which are are believed to be cancer-causing. Also, protein bars are full of junk. It's a start tho, somewhat better than a burrito. ;)

any suggestions on a good protein bar? i was just looking for ways to get more protein without the excess fat and calories. i didn't know decaf teas were so bad for you. i hope it wasn't dumb of me, but i am officially off the pill. at least until i can see if it makes a difference. i will let you guys know. i appreciate the posts everyone(especially the compliments-keep tham coming!!)

If you've got to have protein bars, make your own. There are a number of excellent recipe's for them in John Berardi's "Gourmet Nutrition."

However, I would recommend just preparing your meals at the start of the day and carrying them with you in a cooler/container..it's not as difficult as it sounds, and makes it very easy to get whole, balanced meals all day. I honestly don't know how any of you who don't do this get through your days. :)
