What is your current height and weight? 5'2", 129 pounds (Formerly 167 lbs, then 113 lbs, now up to 129)

If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be? 105-110 lbs

At what weight would you like to be at four months from now? 115 lbs

Why do you want to lose weight? Uncomfortable being overweight

Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event? A trip to Miami in March 2012

What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals? Poor eating, binge eating

Why do you think that you now have a weight problem? I've let myself go and gain back 15 of the pounds I've lost. I havent been focused and I'm seeing the effects of that now in my clothes and the mirror. I'm embarrassed to have let this happen.

What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight? I know from past experience that closely monitoring my calorie intake WILL make me lose weight

Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight? Counting calories and occassionaly exercise

Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back? Losing weight is tough and so is following a strict diet. My social life suffers in some ways. I can't go out to eat and I refrain from drinking too much even though that's an every weekend type thing for my friends and I. (I'm in my early 20s) I need to find balance. I stopped caring and just enjoyed myself going out to eat and on dates and to bars and clubs and the weight crept back on. Now I dont even want to do those things because I'm uncomfortable with how I look. it's such a vicious cycle.

Do you eat when you are not hungry? Yes

Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)? Yes. Definitely an issue.

Do you hide your food or eat in secret? I do like to eat alone, actually. Jesus, I'm looking like a headcase now

Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed? Yes.

Do you eat as a reward? No, I drink as a reward which isn't much better (LOL)

Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer? Yes, always eat watching tv

Basically, I've just reached my breaking point. As I was driving to work the other morning, I had a terrifying thought. I've just been so consumed with my failure to keep the weight off and feeling self conscious about everyone noticing that I've gained some back. I skidded a little in the rain and for the rest of my drive I thought to myself "It wouldn't be so bad if I died" That's how much the pressure is weighing on me and I understand it sounds completely insane and out of control. It's nothing I'd care to share with friends or family so maybe an anonymous group will help. I'm back on track but I need to stay on track, for my sanity. Id appreciate any help, advice, or similar stories.

AI understand that you may feel you're overweight, and for you, maybe you are, but your entire post made me feel sad. You're actually at a normal weight for your height, your BMI is in the top range of normal and healthy. Yet you come off as depressed and sickened by your weight gain.

Try to look at this is a fun challenge, and not a life or death situation. Try not to beat yourself up. It can only hurt you in the end if you feel so disappointed in yourself. Have determination and know that you're HEALTHY, you haven't gotten too bad. You caught it before ALL your hard work went down the drain. A positive outlook is better in the long run. Believe me, I hated myself for years because I gained 100lb over my ideal weight.

Remember that beauty is on the inside. Those 15lb will melt away so long as you make changes for a life-time. Definitely cut out the drinking, that will do you wonders :).

Good luck with your loss!

Thank you for responding! You're definitely right... I'm just in the beginning stage "funk" where my emotions and impatience get the best of me. I just worry that if I've allowed myself to gain back some weight, its not unlikely that I'd let myself gain back more. How did you get your focus/motivation back? Also, I'll try to take your advice on cutting down on the weekend drinking. Maybe a few nights as designated driver won't kill me (LOL)!

AI looked at the "Before and After" forum, looking at all those pictures of people having lost weight was such an inspiration. One of the biggest inspirations is Frogged, he's doing SO well, he has a journal on here too. Keep yourself accountable by posting in your journal every day, keep track of what you eat and drink.

I always picture myself doing things I never tried before because of my weight. I want to take up kick-boxing, and dance (ballet maybe). I pass a clothing store on the way to work every day, and they're all skinny tight-fitted dresses and clothing. I tell myself by summer I'll be able to walk in there and buy anything I want, and wear it. I use my imagination a lot to picture myself looking fantastic, and I strive for it every day.

That's not to say it always works. Some days I cheat (yesterday I ate a medium pizza, that's like 2000 calories). Some days I stick to it like a pro. I also like challenges, so I joined the monthly challenges that we have on this forum. I weigh myself every week and strive for that goal loss for the month. I even joined a boot camp at my gym.

Only you have the power to better yourself. If you did it once, you can do it again. Remember how it felt to reach your goal, and remember what motivated you. Stay positive, and you'll lose weight for sure!

Hey!!:) I totally agree with everything Loch has said!! There is nothing wrong with your weight, and you BMI is normal:):) Remember that beauty comes from the inside, i think you dont need to lose any weight but to work on your confidence:)

Best of luck:)

Thank you ladies, I really appreciate your kind responses. I'm going to try not to be too hard on myself and just get back on a healthy track with a positive outlook. I know my BMI is in the normal range, but it IS in the higher range, and frankly- my body just looks better when my weight is 120 and below (Oh, and I just wanna get back into this one pair of skinny jeans!! haha) I just wanted to update for my own records that I did lose two pounds, granted mostly water weight, but I know if i stick to my clean eating streak those pounds will stay off. I'm going on a trip to Miami in March and would like to accomplish my goal by then which gives me plenty of time to slowly lose the weight and work on maintaining, which is the absolute hardest for me. I'm still new to this website and getting acquainted with the setup and how this all works but I'd love to hear more about your journeys!

10/7/11- Weight's at 125.5 today. I feel really good so far. I'm starting to realize a lot of this transformation is mental. I know my body hasn't changed much yet but I feel SO much better just knowing I've taken steps in a positive direction and have regained some control through a routine. I'm a little concerned about the weekend. I refrained from drinking last week but this weekend there's an oktoberfest event my friends and I are going to. It's not so much that I'm worried about the actual drinking (I stick with vodka-club soda, so it's not TOO bad)... it's more about me losing focus the day AFTER. Hangovers don't exactly help you choose the healthiest foods ;) I just don't want to fall off the wagon for a few days. Anyway, I think I'm setting a realistic goal by saying I'd like to be back down to 115 by New Years Eve. Then I'll work on the last 5 pounds (the hardest!!) and toning everything up to be beach-ready for my trip in March.

Also, an update on some of my habits. I've been drinking plennnty of water each day. I have a big breakfast each morning and make sure not to eat/snack at nighttime. I stopped drinking coffee, although I drank it black anyways so not too many calories there, simply because I read up on how it's not that great for you. Instead I went to the store yesterday and got green tea. Still no plans to kick my one coke-zero a day habit. Being in the medical field, I KNOW how awful diet anything is for you but it's my one vice and I'm not ready to give it up! :X

Lastly, I hung one of my old teeny pairs of jeans on the back of my bedroom door. They stare me in the face everyday and they'll come down when my butt can fit into them again haha
