I'm sure you guys get 20 posts like this a day but I need information tailored to me. I've searched over this forum for a few days now and I've seen some good advice and a few things that could work for me but I would like to get some accurate advice based on my situation. I'm new to working out. I'm not a runner. I do walk on a treadmill or in my neighborhood three or four nights a week though.
OK, so, I'm 27, male, 6'2", 270 lbs. I'm not in as bad of health as it might seem for someone my size though. I want to start eating healthier, working out with weights, and possibly running (I've heard lots of good things about running). I've read several things online that have a schedule to gradually ease you into a running regimen but everything recommends that you only run three days a week with 2 or 3 days of exercise completely different from running. On these days, I would like to use weights to define my arms, chest, back, etc. Because of my work and school schedule, it's not really a good option for me to join a gym. I do own a treadmill and I can buy some weights to use. I just don't know what kind of exercises I should do with them, how many reps, what to do on what days, etc. Jump roping, push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks, etc. are good for me as well. I'm just looking for some advice on how to mesh a workout routine with a running routine. Or if you guys think something different may work better for me, let me know. I'm open to all advice. I don't want to bulk up like a body builder but I do want a more defined body. I'm just sick of being overweight, tired, and feeling sorry for myself....
If you need more info about me, just ask what you need to know. Thanks a lot.
