Hi there everyonoe/anyone who can offer some words of wisdom.
I started Dr Cohen's in Feb 07 lost an amazing 27kg in 16 weeks or so.....then it all turned sour. I've found myself slipping back into old habits of snacking on junk food (nut bars) that I kept trying to convince myself that these were fine because there not chocolate, but as we all know they are CARBS! Oh no the dreaded carbs that I seem to crave so much. I've been telling myself I want obe at my goal and finished my refeed by Xmas but at the rate I'm going it will never happen. The best I can do is 2-3 days before I deviate again. Please can someone offer me some words of inspiration or share a similar story to encourage me through the last of my journey.

Thanks
Nik:)

Well the good thing is you can always start again!! Unfortunately that is easier said than done. I think I have tried every diet out there. The not eating carbs works great but after I gained it all back when I started eating carbs again. I have yo yo'd for 5 years now. Finally in the last year I have lost 40 pounds. How did I do this? Not by dieting, go figure. I started changing habits, one at a time and you know they say it takes 21 days for a habit to become a habit so first I started walking then when I had that down I started doing some exercises at home then I started eating healthy. I quit eating late at night, I limited my sweets and I started making healthier choices in food and exercised portion control. I found that when I just did one change at a time I was able to keep that change and it got easier and easier. Some days I don't make the best choices and the scale tells me so, I get back on track and notice that when I eat healthy and walk that the weight keeps coming off plus the bonus of doing this without a diet is the changes are life changes and ones that hopefully will stick and help me maintain. So my advice to you is to write down what you want to change and put them in order and just start at the top and work your way down. I think when we want to lose weight we tend to want to do it all at once and we are setting ourselves up for failure with too many changes. Also, writing down what you eat everyday is a huge eye opener, HUGE!!! Good luck to you and just keep telling yourself "you can do it."

Thanks Jean,
Today is another new day and the best thing I can do is try my very best everyday and keep on doing so until I succeed. Thanks for you words of wisdom.

Hi Nik

I will do my best here to try and help you.......but the truth is I am in the same boat or have been for awhile. Jean has offered amazing advice and wisdom though which if you think about it makes so much sense. We gain the weight over time and then expect to take it off quickly and then go back to old habits. This yoyo dieting affects our mental state and obviously our metabolism and throws us into turmoil.

]Look after that the only thing I can suggest is to visualise yourself thin and make some goals for yourself and write them out and put them somewhere where you can easily access when ever you find yourself wavering from the diet.
For example G:1 - Have my nails done when I reach a 2kg loss,
G:2 - go to the movies with a friend and dress yourself up for the occassion..........set these goals to small loss's and maybe these treats will inspire you to reach your final goal weight were you can do a big shopping spree or do a make over or get a new hairstyle. Make it something that will really getting ispired to what to lose.

The other thing is open a bank account, name it my weight loss account and put away some money each time you make a loss and then at the end of goal you have spending money to go out with and shop with.......why not do both.

Goodluck Nik and hope I've helped a bit.

Sam:)
