Hello everyone!! This is the first site that I have ever joined a forum so therefore I am new at all this and am looking forward to it all. I currently have tried to eat healthy and regularly but am finding it quite difficult with work commitments and a six month old baby in the house (my nephew as I live with my sister.) My job is also unsociable hours so I always feel tired even if I do fit in six hours of sleep, which is usually fine for me. I was also diagnosed with pcos eight years ago so I know this is also a challenge for me. My weight normally didn't bother me as I just got on with it or so I thought. Reality I brushed it under the carpet. I need to lose weight so that I can be accepted for IVF egg sharing. I simply need to keep motivated.
Any advice or success stories will be gladly appreciated and I hope you are all doing well.

Hi Ruby,

Welcome to the Forum. You will find a lot of support here. PCOS as you know, sometimes will hamper your weight loss goals. My daughter has pcos as well and she finds a low carb diet works for her. Have you tried any "diets"? Did they work for you at the time? I hate the word diet as it seems so restrictive. Eating healthy does not need to be restrictive. There are some great tasting healthy foods out there.

I found keeping a diary here to be invaluable to helping me lose and keep off the weight. Do you have any kind of plan for how you are going to achieve your goals? What are you going to eat? Are you going to exercise? What kind of foods do you like that are healthy and can be substituted in for unhealthy choices.

Unusual hours can make things more difficult but I have lost 100 pounds a long time ago when I worked nights. I just ate my supper at breakfast and vice versa. Weird to eat a chicken breast and cauliflower at 8:00 am and cereal at 6:00 pm--lol.

Weight loss if never easy but so worth it in the end. You can do this!!

Hi, Ruby & welcome to the forum. Healthy eating & losing weight will bring its own rewards as you find more energy. Once you start losing motivation kicks in. Weight-loss will also help you to be a healthier Mum if your IVF acceptance results in a baby. It will be worth it & is worth persevering with. I just googled "losing weight with PCOS" & it came up with lots of suggestions. Don't go under 1200 cals a day, eat a low GI diet, eat whole grains, fruit & veg, rather than processed food & simple sugars, have more smaller meals, rather than 3 larger meals(I would track calories), eat more protein (30-40%), cut down on carbs, but when you do have them eat more resistant starch like bananas, beans & potatoes....
It will be harder to lose weight with PCOS, but it will be worth it. Try to type in your diary every day. Just doing that will help keep you on track. It is all a learning curve. There are no easy answers to weight loss & getting healthy. You will find support in here & we will try to help you stay motivated. Ultimately it's you that will be doing the hard work, but it is also very rewarding. Go you!!!
