Hi All,
I was pretty overweight a few years ago, about 180 lbs. I slimmed down to 140-ish, and feel great! I go to the gym regularly and am very aware of what I eat. Noticing my weight loss, my sister decided to try and shape up. But we are very different and it seems that no matter how often she works out, nothing changes..
First of all, I'm 19. She's 30. She's had two kids by C-section and I am definitely without child. She juggles work, marriage and kids and I juggle college and.. well, that's it. Her weight -- probably about 200 lbs? -- seems very stubborn. I know it makes her depressed because of her size. She constantly talks about it and makes fun of herself for it. She was thinner than I am before her children, probably around a size 4 and now is around a 14. I know that she's happy for me but I almost feel bad about losing the weight because she doesn't seem to able to get hers off! She's been going to the gym since late November and hasn't lost a pound. I told her it was the holidays, and that not losing anything is a good thing (she could be gaining, right?). I think because I lost the weight she comes to me with questions, and I can't answer them!
I honestly don't know why she isn't losing weight! I mean, for the most part, she eats very healthy.. salads and roasted vegetables, etc. She has two young children, but I don't think it's baby weight. They are five- and three-years-old. So obviously she does juggle their diets as well, but, I mean, she works out more regularly than I do. I know that I'm younger but I feel as though she might give up on the gym soon because to her, nothing is happening. I told her to hang in there, that she'd notice something soon, but... I'm not sure if that's the truth? ): My mom has a thyroid condition, and I've asked her to go to the doctor, but she doesn't want to admit it to herself.
I don't know what to say! I guess I'd really love some feedback. Anything you could suggest for me to tell my sister/focus on/have YOU been in a similar situation? I'd really love anything. I just don't want her to be unhappy, because she is the best sister I could have ever asked for. :\
