Need advice on interval training

I just had a question about interval training. I say interval training because after reading the post I dont know if I am ready for HIIT, but I would like to apply the concept to my current workouts.

My idea is to do 45-60 min cardio 3 days a week and then calisthenics/interval training the other 3 workout days

Should interval training be a workout by itself or would it be alright to do some calisthenics before I do the interval training?

Hi there,

To be able to do quality interval training and get the most benefit it should really be a session in itself.

When starting interval training you would also be best off only doing one session a week because they are very demanding on the body. Any more than this and you would have a good chance of becoming injured.

Yes, i agree with James Porter 100%. I tried to incorporate HIIT into my workouts 3 times a week... It was going well for about 2 months... Then my knees started to hurt after a good workout. Now, i only do HIIT once a week, right before my rest day. Although I'm not losing weight as fast as I used to, I still feel goddamn healthy!! = )
