Need advice for getting into shape

I've never been in shape. I'm almost 25 and I should be in my prime. Instead, I have very weak muscles, low energy, and low endurance. I'm not sure where to start with exercises. I think I need low-impact exercises.

Details: 5'7" female at about 135lbs. The only semi-regular exercise I get is walking around campus for classes, but that isn't a lot at all. I also do a few exercises with 3lb weights at night (some bicep curls and stretching). I have fibromyalgia, and upper back, shoulder, and neck pain.

I would like to learn exercises that I can do at home, and indoors (for the winter time). At home there are: free weights (1lbs to 5lbs), resistance bands (including the type that hooks onto the door), ankle weights (up to 10lbs, adjustable), exercise ball, and an elliptical machine.

Of course I want to get ripped and look all buff and stuff, but I know I need to start out gentle. I want to learn exercises that can target my entire body and increase flexibility, endurance, and strength. I want to be able to go up three flights of stairs without getting out of breath. I want to be able to lift objects and be able to hold them for a while... My arms are stick-thin, I have very little muscle. I may be at a good weight range, but I definitely do not feel fit; most of that weight isn't muscle, it's just jiggly marshmallow flab.

I feel like I'm stuck in a rut, and I'm not sure how to get out of it and on to the road for healthy living. Does anyone have any advice? Suggestions? Please help!

Hey Stumpy_Potato: I have been there. I am 26 and it took me nearly my entire life to get to where I am today. I would love to chat more and help you. I can tell you that much of it was getting my eating under control and understanding what my body could digest (and what it couldn't)...I always worked out but it didn't wasn't getting the results back then that I do now! And now I just work out at home...convenient and I have lots of means of accountability! :)

I feel your pain but the question is are you ready to really dedicate yourself to something because trust me, its worth it in the end but you MUST dedicate yourself and it will all work out for the best.
