Need a plan for Weight Loss

Hello. I'm new to the forums and am eager for your feedback.

But first, some few details :

Age : 14
Gender : Boy
Weight : 97KG - 212lb

From the above, it is apparent that the problem lies in my weight. I really need to tone down, and I am determined to do this in the summers.

The basic equipment I have is :
  • A treadmill
  • A stationary cycle
  • A real bicycle
  • A machine that I have no clue about. All I know is that it is used for crunches, while sitting up.
  • A pair of jogging shoes
  • A park

So, with this in mind, I would be really greatful if someone could come up with a fitness plan, that starts from the 1rst of June, to the 28th of July. Nutrition too would be great!

Some additional factors
  • I go to a cricket club every Tuesday-Thursday
  • I have to travel from the 16th of June to the 1st of July

It seems like a lot but I would really appreciate if you helped me here. I will forever be indebted to you.

Take a look around the forums a bit and read some stickies. They can provide some basic guidelines to get you started on a routine. Once you figure things out for yourself a bit more, then it will be easier for other people to help and refine your plan. (Unfortunately, few people will be willing to write you out an entire program.)

Just as a starting note, you may want to start with cycling first. (Just as a generalization, overweight people who are relatively new to exercise have a hard time with the stress that running has on the legs.)

I'd recommend either going outside to bike for 30-60 minutes every one or two days. Or if you want to use the stationary cycle, do 30-45 minutes with some higher intensity intervals thrown in there.

As a teen of 14 years of age, I think that you need to think for long term instead of short term solution. I really like all the supporting equipment you have.

Keep in mind that all of those are very useful. And yes, jrahien seems correct. You can start by cycling. But try to mix it up by other cardio exercises since it would help you in the long run in great way. You would not feel bore by doing the same exercise over again and again.

Personally I believe cardio is one of the most important things you can do for your body, whether you want to lose weight, build muscle or improve your health for the long period of time. The great thing is, there are plenty of choices for cardio exercise.

There are some that work best if your goal is to blast calories and get in great shape. Just check those out:

• Running
• Cross-Country Skiing
• Bicycling
• Elliptical Trainer
• Swimming
• Step Aerobics
• Rowing
• Kickboxing
• Walking
• Jumping Rope

Don’t do one exercise only. Mix it up after time to time. It would help you in great extent for long period of time.
