Hello-

I am a 37 year old male, 6 ft, 253 pounds. I started a workout routine about 4 weeks ago. I do a whole body work out with weights and then finish with 20 minutes of cardio at 65% of my maximum heart rate. I do this workout every other day. I used to do the 2 body parts per day thing and I find that the whole body workout is way more intense. I have modified my diet to be low sodium (I am prehypertension) with a total of about 1800 to 2000 calories per day.

I am wondering if I am on the right track. My goal is to lose weight and stop taking BP meds. I would also like to maintain better eating habits. Is 1800 to 2000 calories per day advisable while doing the whole body work out? I have lost weight (about 6 pounds) but I haven't been sleeping very well. Maybe becasue I have turned my exercise and eating habits upside down.

Looking for any advice on a healthy diet for losing weight but I also need to use my brain at work so I am not sure if I am doing this right.

Thanks

I bet your metabolism is 3400 or more with your activity level being pretty high.

I would go for about 2000-2200 if I was you. I have been losing weight on 1800 but I am 10 years older than you and 30lbs heavier.

I bet if you are working out you can drop 3 or 4 per week at 2200 cal.

1800 is tough to maintain for a big guy. (I know)
