first my work schedule:
my days start at 10 P.M. get up get ready and go to work
work from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.
at 7 a.m. I go home eat a little something mess around till 8 a.m. then sleep
at around 12-1 p.m. I wake up do what I need to for the day have my lunch and then at between 4-5 p.m. I go to sleep till 10 and do it all over again.
I work 7 days a week and average a day off every month and a half or so.

my job requires me to fix breakfast and all the food we have is frozen stuff with preservatives and high in a lot of stuff I'm sure I don't need.

I've read many diet plans and I don't see any of them that really fit into my work schedule. I've read many things saying not to eat past 6p.m. but when your awake all night and the temptation of knowing food is right there for the eating its kinda hard.

I'm 5'11" and weigh 215 pound I would like to be at least 180 if not 170 but I need help please give me all the information you can as to what I should do to lose this weight.

I've recently Increased my water intake I'm now drinking 6-8 glasses a day minimum of 6. I go every other day for a 30 min. walk. and as soon as I get an area cleared up will be alternating days one day 30 min walk the next day 30 min. lifting weights. I've done away with all fast food and trying to eat more healthy foods started eating 2 bananas a day but very rarely eat vegetables.

I've been doing this for over a month and have noticed no lose of weight at all. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Well here are a few ideas, let me know if these fit in at all for you:

Keep good food around the house that is easy to eat and that you don't completely detest. Could be beans, tuna, yogurt, canned fish, cottage chease, whatever (I have no idea what your tastes are). But also keep lots of vegetables around in a form that you can easily and quickly prepare. Even frozen or canned vegetables are better than junk food. Or maybe there is a kind of salad you like that you can prepare quickly or in advance. I used to make marinated bean salad in advance, with different beans and vegetables in a dressing of vinegar and herbs etc. It stays a while in the fridge and you can eat it whenever you are hungry. And then you can try this:

Before you eat anything bad, eat as many vegetables as you can.

Sounds weird, no? But your body will get more of the vitamins it needs so you won't crave bad food. And you will fill your stomach so you won't be starving afterwards.

When you have eaten as many vegetables as you can, then eat whatever else you are going to eat. Even if it is junkfood in the beginning, you will probably not need to eat as much of it as you will be full. And your body will start to get the nutrients it needs from the vegetables so you won't crave the junk as much. You might start even to dislike it.

I could say more, in a little rush now, let me know what you think.

hi i work night shifts too, though not so many. i have a main meal in the evening before work, another during the night which i bring in (eg soups/ baked spuds/ healthy sandwich/salad etc) and breakfast sometime before i go to bed. in between i will have snacks - soup/ fruit/ crispbreads/cottage cheese/cereal bar/baked crisps + hummous etc. i always take my own snacks into work to munch during the night.it helps my blood sugar to stop dropping too low (im not diabetic, but it can drop during the early hours and stops me eating any of the biscuits, choccys etc, left lying around work.
if you get up between 4 -5 and have something to eat, you could have your main evening meal then and a healthy snack or smaller meal before starting work, or vice versa. take some food in with you + snack if you wanted and have your breakfast in the morning. i got myself some oatmeal which i have for breakfast. its cheap, filling and good for you. alternatively there are egg whites, which i microwave into an omelette, serve with w/meal toast.slim

theres a thread or two here on the subject but time of day you eat really doesn't matter - its the amount of calories you consume in a day that does matter.

You really could take any diet plan and just have it work around your schedule - if you want dinner at 8:00am and breakfast at midnight -make that work for you... just keep an eye on your daily calories

I eat maybe 2 actual meals a day usually just one for the rest of the day I snack on everything. So what are alternatives to vegetables and what are healthy snacks that are worth eating. I love to eat I eat when I'm happy, sad, depressed, whenever doesn't matter I'll eat. so I need something that taste good and I can eat as much of it as I want. what are my options?

Celery, carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, chillies, all dipped in a low-fat dip.

Try chewing gum or mints sometimes too, to stop you from eating all the time.
It will help, and your stomach will shrink so in future when you eat, you'll get fuller quicker, and won't over-eat which = weight gain usually.

Try (you need Adobe Reader), its very good, and helpful.
It's just little ways you can make a change in your eating habits.

Also, snack on nuts. Not too many, most are high in calories (read the packets), but they are good for you so try to fit them in somewhere.

Popcorn is also a nice munchy thing to have. No salt or butter, and its low in calories.

I agree with miracle, popcorn is awesome. You can find the little 100 calorie bags and it really is a lot of popcorn.

I used to work third shift (10:30-6:30) and the temptation to stuff one's face all night is tough on the figure. I dont know in what setting you work, but if you get a break, you might try taking a walk then. Also, I see you sleep in two buckets of time. If it is possible you might try sleeping 8-9 hours straight in the morning or the evening. I used to go home and sleep from 7 or 8 until 2 or 3 in the afternoon, and this really helped my meal times be a little more regulated.

Can you take your own healthy breakfast or do you have to eat what is there to fix?

Good luck:)

I've not been able to sleep for longer than 3-5 hours at any one time no matter how restless I am. Yes I can bring my own food in to eat but I was raised on microwaveable food, pizza, and lasagna so I know nothing about buying good food so figured I'd eat was provided and free.
as far as a life I don't need one if I could die I would but I wasn't successful at that either so figured lose weight maybe feel better about myself and who knows something might follow after that.

Oh dear. Get yourself a game. Something to do. Something that interests you when you are not working, that you will look forward to. And maybe learn to cook? Maybe even that could be interesting to you, and you learn to cook healthy food? Or maybe it's photography, or painting, or music, or whatever INTERESTS you.

I agree about snacking on nuts and vegetables, nuts are very good for weightloss and have lots of protein. If they are raw I wouldn't even worry about the calories as the nutrition it gives you will help your body stop craving bad food and might also help the system function better in general which could effect it's ability to burn fat. Good raw oil is good for weight loss, and raw nuts have that.
