that's the test you're going to have to perform... so that's what you should be focusing on... if they asked you to play hopscotch -you'd practice hopscotch - jumping rope wouldn't be the same...

so you might not be getting 1200 calories a day...

I'd strongly suggest getting an account at and a food scale and start weighing and measuring everything you're eating...

No I said I wasnt couting to the question someone asked about me couting protein. In that quote I meant I dont count protein I only count calories.

I was told by my NAVY Recruiter and Dietitian NOT TO LIFT CARDIO AT ALL. I forgot to mention this in my first post. Its bacause they have strict weight limit and muscle weighs more than fat. You can be Arnold Swartznager but if you weight and height is not matching or close to the paper there going to say your out of weight. Thats why Im doing running and calestics and swimming.
I work with a guy who's in the Reserves.. and they do regular fitness tests on the guys - weight/height is less important that body fat percentage...

I know, thats why thats what IM doing. In the PFT I have to Swim Run Situp and Pushup thats why thats what Ive posted. Im just trying to see if anyone has any ideas about what else I could add to make my routine tougher.

Any other exericses that anyone would suggest that would help me get in shape??

...sometimes the best part of beating your head against a brick wall...

... is stopping...

I'm out...

good luck gettiing to where you want to be.. (and for the record, i never say good luck because it's consistent effort that gets people to where they want to be -luck has little to do with it- you are going to need luck... )

And especially if you do hit the navy where it will be your job to listen and act on what you're being told...

Thats not true for ACTIVE. Ive read enough and talked to people. I know what Im talking about about the Navy. Weight/Height very important. So is BF% but the test for me go to boot is Weight/Height.

Applicants not meeting the Navy weight standard for their height will be measured for body fat percentage. Male applicants measured at 22 percent body fat or less (23% for male applicants 40 years of age or older) may enter the Delayed Entry Program (DEP) and ship to Recruit Training Command regardless of their weight. Female applicants measured at 33 percent body fat or less (34% for female applicants 40 years of age or older) may DEP and ship to Recruit Training

To the O.P:

Hey there, I'm afraid I can't be of much help as far as your workout, sorry.

Just wanted to say congrats on deciding to lose weight and join the Navy, my boyfriend is a Navy recruiter here in Michigan and the Navy has really bettered his life and it will probably better yours (if you behave yourself that is :p)

I feel your pain on the 1200 calories diet, everyone told me eating so few calories was bad for me etc...etc... It became HIGHLY irritating. I eat around 1000-1200 daily and have been informed by two nutritionist and three doctors that it's safe to do so. As long as your getting well balanced, well portioned meals and your not feeling hungry and light headed then your fine :)

Good luck with boot camp!!! :)

Who the fuck said it's unsafe?

I said it's not conducive to performance or muscle maintenance.

Shit, if you want a bunch of weaklings protecting our country... so be it. But I'm not about to enable that sort of bullshit advice.

Wow..wow.....wow.....slow your roll there, Steve. No need to come at me cussing. Thats not the right way to approach people.

First off, my post was directed towards the original poster, hence why I said "To the O.P. I did not say that YOU said anything, you were not mentioned in my post. Nothing in that post was directed towards anyone other than the O.P.

I was simply stating my opinion that I feel it's safe for him to consume the stated amount of calories. You had your say, you felt it wasn't a good calories intake for him and thats all fair and fine, each to their own, live and let live. So it seems that because I did not agree with you, you try to start an argument with me. I never said that ANYONE in this thread stated that it was "unsafe", I stated that doctors and nutritionists had told me it was safe.

And here I was thinking we were all grown up here.....silly me.
