EAT MORE! There's no way in hell a 280lb man performing that much exercise can get by on 1200 calories. Read the stickies. Learn how to make a proper diet. Seriously... you're WAY too low.

Yup, read the stickies. They'll give you the baseline education you need in order to create a proper program for yourself.

Im currently going to a dietian who put me on that 1200 calorie diet. I eat 3 meals spread throughout the day. To be honest thats more than enough food for me. The fat was comming off too, and still is just alittle slower than it was. Right now I think I just need to up my routine, you know add some more stuff to it... Thanks for the adivce though but thats the calories I was told to eat...

So you're planning on eat way to few calories and upping the exercise?

That's a surefire way to lose muscle.

That's a great dietitian you have there.

Yeah I just joined, but I will read the stickies. Im just looking for adivce on how to better my workout routine. I got the diet under control. Thanks for the post.

i'm not sure your dietician is giving you the best advice... common sense says that's not enough calories to sustain you long term...

as for your workout... if you want to get better at pushups -I think you have to do pushups.. you want to be able to run faster you have to be able to run... Try the couch to 5k walk/run program -it's an 8 week program that might help..

Well I dont want to go to more than 1500, so I guess if I get some ideas on what I could add to my routine I will up the calories to assist. But no more than 1500 calories a day, thats more than enough for anyone.

Hey man please dont be rude or negative towards him or his practices unless you too are a dietitian. Also Ive know people to lose weight by him so Im not really worried about it.

Thanks for posting though. Anyone else with any thoughts on my routine?

that wasn't rude or negative..it was a statement...

Steve might not be a dietician -and he doesn't need me defending him...but he's spent a lot of time educating himself about nutrtition and exercise physiology... and sharing that knowledge with others... so people won't make mistakes that will hurt their efforts long term..

This is a support forum.. part of support is telling a person where there are flaws in their program --

I hardly ate before when I was fatter and I actually ate good normal portions too. Although it was what I ate, that made me fat, the calories from pizza, burgers, ect. Also 1200 should be enough for anyone.

Yeah, um I dont really understand why you said this, I already posted that I am doing this... I need more exercises that will help me get in better shape so I can even do more than waht I do.

Try the couch to 5k walk/run program -it's an 8 week program that might help..

Thanks Ill look into it.

and bill gates was quoted ones as saying 64K is all anyone would really need and that turned out to be a bit of an untruth.... people learn more about nutrition... and they come to understand that what might have been effective advice 20 years ago, doesn't work so much now...that a more effective plan is to actually eat more to lose weight...

I know that it wasnt rude. I just detected the sarcasam, so I thought I would just get that statement I made out there before anyone actually did make rude comments about him. I dont want this to turn into a flamming topic.

I understand that. I was just saying that sarcasm remark he made about the dietitian might be taken lightly considering he's not one. You dont have to defend him on anything Im just saying.... I would love to learn from him.

Also what I was saying was that that was the calories I was told to eat and in all honesty thats enough food for me.

I understand that. And I would love to hear about the flaws, thats why I posted. Im just looking for advice on the flaws in my workout. I got my diet down pat.

Sure, but just for the sake of arguement some people could live on 64K.

Also Im just saying Im not going to force myself to eat, especially when Ive been told to eat a certain amount and its turned out to be enough.

Also at Boot Camp you can only eat 3 meals a day, like I do now, so why would I want to get used to eating more a day, then not be able too in Boot Camp..

You don't have to eat 6 meals a day. Go ahead and eat three. It doesn't matter how often you get your calories, just that you get them. But your dietician is giving you some awful advice unless you have some medical conditions that you haven't told us about.

As Steve said, all that exercise on 1200 calories a day is a perfect plan to get rid of what muscle you have.

You should really look into it and pose some questions to your dietician. I know I would.

Good luck!

Like I said before 1200 is enough food for me But Im willing to eat 1500, since I plan to increase my workout.

Now I would appreaciate some help or comments on my workout routine. Thanks

What metric are you using to determine what is more than enough?

You seem to have some very skewed perceptions as to what proper nutrition is all about.

Your dietitian too.

He/she should have her license stripped.

Hey man please dont be rude or negative towards him or his practices unless you too are a dietitian. Also Ive know people to lose weight by him so Im not really worried about it.

Haha, chill.

If you were looking for advice and commentary that fits your neat little idealism of good nutrition... you came to the wrong community.

Losing weight is so freaking easy it's stupid. If that's what you're gauging this guy's efficacy off of... I'd re-evaluate.

Losing fat while maintaining muscle... that's something entirely different.

Unless that is, you went to him in hopes of being a lighter, still soft, untoned version of your former self.
