My Weight Loss

Hi I'm new to the forums, so I'll start by saying Hi

I'm a soon to be 20 (on sunday) college student. I have been putting myself on my own diet I came up with months ago. I used to be a pretty skinny kid all the way up untill my Senior year of highschool. I gave up sports/athletics for work, which at the time was a fastfood resturaunt (didn't help at all) And I at one point made it all the way to 315 lbs. Right about then I decided to put myself on a diet. I didn't really know what diet to follow so I made my own. That was about 8 or so months ago. Now I'm 245 lbs, but I've run into a problem. I can't seam to lose anymore. I'm 6'3" and I jog/excerise and play sports just fine. I'm not really that noticably fat anymore, but I still want to get down to 200-220. I just can't seam to make the finish push :( I haven't eaten anything different. I've tried excersing more. But my weight just says 245 plus or minus a pound for the past 2-3 weeks. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi. I'm very new here, but I thought I'd interject because I had the same issue a couple weeks ago. I had consistently lost, but then for almost 4 weeks lost nothing at all and fluctuated up several pounds even. It sounds like a plateau to me! I'd keep doing what you're doing and if all else fails switch up your exercise routine and try cycling your calories so you aren't eating the same amount every day. I know that's not the best thing to hear, but it's totally normal to hit a wall for a while after losing a lot of weight (or even a little for that matter). Just persevere!!!

Hello CLOUD and welcome!
What kind of food plan do you do because
maybe your lacking certain foods or getting too much of a certain
food. You exersices sound awesome so all I can say is maybe you
hit a plateau and it will pick back up again you just gotta hang in
'there.Sometimes you lose inches even when the scale stays the same!
Congrats on 70 lb's lost that is gr8! Keep up the good work,Tammy:)

It may be time to re-evaluate, especially what you are eating. With so much success, you're walking around without 70 pounds you used to have. Imagine how much extra exercise you would have if you strapped 70 pounds to yourself for your daily life!

This is why it takes fewer calories to live at 245 than it did to live at 315, and you just may have hit a new eqillibrium. I would recommend looking at what you eat, and maybe kicking up the exercise a little.

You can do it!

My current diet is cheerios (the cereal) for bfast [1 bowl]. Lunch is usually soup or a sandwich with very little or no condiments. Dinner is my splurge. I usually have pretty hearty dinners. What I DON'T eat is anything frozen. Most items from a can. Anything cooked in grease, fastfood.

Only thing I drink is water.

My current excerise is about 5 days a week walking/jogging for 8-9 miles.
And weight training, my thought why I might not be losing any weight is because of muscle gain. I feel less but the number on my scale doesn't move.

probably a plateau, change what you're eating a bit, change the types of exercise (ie from running to cycling or something).
Otherwise grin and bear it - it will pass :D

Hello Cloud,
I think WISHES said it best it's probally a plateau!
Your menue sounds gr8 and you are definatley kicking azz with the
8-9 miles of jogging.I would just stick with that and get past this
lil stump and it will pick back up again.I am on my own diet and
exersice to and have been in the 190's forever now but thats my
fault for haveing a few bad days the past 2 weeks:mad: !
Anyway you can do it just stick with your plan your doing awesome!
Have a gr8 weekend ,Tammy:D
