My weight loss journey and all the moods in between!

I was going to post this in my before and after's thread, but figured this was a more appropriate place to go!

Ok, I have decided to only weigh myself once per day in the morning in the buff. Different clothing weighs differently, so the only logical way for it to be consistant is with no clothing. So with that said, I am actually 148.5 pounds! That makes me even happier because my weight is always consistant in the morning anyway before I eat, drink, and workout. I don't think I have mentioned it before, but I am about 5' 2.5" tall and have been in a size 12 jeans since high school! Even when I went down to 132 my senior year of high school and to a size 8/9 jean, I somehow still fit in my size 12 jeans too...I think it is the number I am doomed to be forever sometimes! My first goal is to be 140 and hopefully down a full jean size (my 12's are feeling a little more roomy!).

I do think I need to buy a new scale though. I have my own which is the old fashion kind with the little red needle and spinning panel on the inside when you step on. I didn't spend much on it and set on 0 it never was accurate. We hads to set it on 10 lbs. for it to be more accurate. I am staying with my mom and she has a lower end digital scale that is atleast 5 years old. Water has spilled on it and her floor is uneven, so in different areas of the bathroom, the weight can vary by a couple of pounds. By the sink, it read as 146.5, but then in two other spots on the floor, it read 148.5. I am going by the higher weight because I got that reading more.

On another positive note, I got out my old size 9 jeans that I haven't worn in 4.5 years, they only like about 2 inches to button! This time I didn't have to jump up and down to squeeze them over my bum, so that is a good sign! I've been working out everyday alternating two videos. They are both Denise Austin (yeah, she can be overly peppy, but atleast it is something to follow!). One is the Fat Burning Dance Mix and the other is the Boot Camp Total Body Blast. When I want to give the stregth training a rest I go to the dance video so I am atleast getting the cardio for 55 minutes, ususally for 2 days. Then I do the boot camp video for 3 days....that one really makes me sweat and I can feel all kinds of different muscles being engaged while getting the cardio. So I have finally learned that a good cardio workout is THE key to burning off the weight...something that didn't happen when I'd turn on the radio and act a fool with my kids...lol....and then do tons of crunches and curls.....just not enough steady cardio. Anyhoo, I'll stop rambling on now...just thought I'd share! :waving:

his time I didn't have to jump up and down to squeeze them over my bum, so that is a good sign!
I just got the visual on that and that made me laugh - i agree -it's a very good sign :) well done!

welcome to your diary. and have fun getting to your goal :D

Anxious!

Well, this morning's weigh in showed that I was another half pound lighter...148! I've gotta get to be by 10:30 pm tonight. I am starting a second job tomorrow morning to save money for the big move! I'll be up at 5am at work for 7am, leave at 3:30pm, then off to my primary job. Thank goodness I don't have a large workload and am salaried there....I bang everything out in about 1.5 hours, then sit and chat with work buddies for an hour!

I am used to doing my hour - hour and a half workout around 11am and preparing my meals then and not in advance. It's going to be a challenge to pack up lunch and dinner into one bag. I bought some granola bars today, so that will be my "on the go" breakfast. I think I will make a salad with vinegrette on the side to pack for lunch and leftovers from tonight's dinner for tomorrow's dinner. I also have a HUGE bottle of water I got at the dollar store for 50cents...not bad and it will last most of the day.

As far as after my workday is finished.....I am going to push myself to keep up with my workout.....even if it is at night. I feel bad making all that time for myself when my 2 little boys are going to be with my mom all day (we are temp living with my parents while my hubby is out of state working for the move). They'll probably want to play and hug, but I am sadly going to have to put the youngest (19 months) in his playpen while I do my workout because he likes to sneak up underfoot and I don't wanna accidentally kick or punch him down to the floor! Then will come bathtime for the next day.

I already know this is gonna stress me out because I am going to feel guilty for not focusing the attention they need from me on them! Stress usually makes weight loss come to a stand still too! I have GOT to stick with this cardio regimen though...I want to be able to play more with them without getting winded! I may not be overly overweight, but my kids deserve a healthy, fit mommy who can get out there and play football, baseball, soccer, or whatever they want me to play with them when they are a little bigger! Every kid does, right! Anyway, time for me to pack my food for tomorrow and get to bed b4 long....thanks for listening to my rant! :willy_nilly:

In the long run all that extra energy and esteem are going to help your family so much more. Congrats for starting to diary all of this, I look forward to seeing more results! Congrats on the 148!

Changes

Well guys....I qorked my one day at the second job....I just called them and told them I wouldn't be returning! I was up at 5am, then when work let out at 3:30pm, my tire was flat, so one of the guys in my group changed it for me. I didn't even have the upper body strength to loosen the lugnuts (another reason why I NEED to stick with working out!). Without being able to eat a healthy snack just anytime I feel like I need it, I feel like S...T today! Headachy and dizzy. There is no way I can do both jobs and continue with my workout. Oh well...my hubby is FINALLY starting his security job in the morning after 3 weeks of a state-wide computer problem with background checks! He said they are behind, so he should have lots of OT, which means that should make as much as my second job was.

Now...on topic, I don't know my weight today....didn't get a chance to do that this morning. I don't even care right now...tomorrow morning will do fine! Well, off to my workout! Keep your fingers crossed that I don't pass out....lol!

Your body will learn to adapt to the workload once you get used to it. Eat consistently throughout the day to avoid those types of problems.

Also, I re-read your first post, and I'd like to clear one thing up. Cardio is quite literally not the key to losing weight. Cardio for most people doesn't burn enough calories to be the key component. Quite simply it is your food diet. You need to bring in fewer calories than you burn.

Also, for being able to fix a car wheel, you really need to introduce strength training into your regimen. There is a reason why it's so popular, despite being hard work!

Well, personally for my body, cardio IS the key. I can cut calories and strength train, and no weight loss happens (muscle, I know), BUT I also don't lose inches.....so for me, cardio is an absolute MUST. It may not be what is the key to everyone, but I am in tune with my own body and it is what works. That said...I know I have to eat consistantly throughout the day...and I do when I am home, but the second job I had for all of one day was on a production floor where food is not allowed....a little tough for the nutrition. Anyway....I have done everything before....each time a little differently until I figured out what my body adapts to the best. Happy to report I am down to 147 this morning! A stretchy purple shirt that was really snug in my "bat wing" area of the arm is a little roomier! Woo hoo!!!!!

Gotta love it when the clothes start fitting better!

I'm wishing these jeans I'm wearing today would start fitting better at the moment! ug.

& I have to agree that Denise Austin can get on your nerves sometimes with her unbridled pep, but it can be a fun workout & better motivation than me trying to get myself through a round of exercises.

Good luck & glad you are here.

Hey Cilla, just had to poke my head in here...I just saw your before pic thread, and came here to see how tall you were. I'm obsessed with finding others of my height to compare goal weights. LOL! I'm almost 5'2", and my current goal weight is about 125, and I'm only a few lbs closer than you right now. You're really burning it off though!!

Hey guys!

I am about 5' 2.5", so being even 159 looks like a lot on a shortie like me! Thanks for the comments about my photos. I'm not seeing a lot in my tummy which is what I want more than ANYTHING, but I have the "incredible shrinking thighs"!!!! So I guess for every flat tummy I am envious over, there is someone envious that my thighs are shrinking....lol.

I swear, my husband is out of state right now and I tell him every other day that I've lost another pound and he says "awesome", but then he asks if I am eating! I really am....just not like before. I eat everything in moderation. No counting calories, but cutting down portion size. If I really want some chocolate, I will have one piece instead of the whole container. I also make sure I workout for an hour regularly. I am not obsessing this time and it's working! I am also doing it for ME and not for ANYONE else....I think that is making a world of difference! Anyhoo, if anyone has any other comments about my Before and Inbetween pics, take a look and say something! Later!

It's been a while!

Hey all! I haven't been on here since the 14th. I have hit a plateau during that time and didn't budge weight - wise. I must report that my things and buns are rock hard, so I know there is some muscle happening....maybe the cause of the plateau. It is the holidays, so I have had a slightly higher carb intake than normal, but I kept the portion sizes smaller.....yet still, I felt that infamous "oh my god I am gonna barf!" Thanksgiving feeling. So my body is acustomed to smaller portions now! This means I have to be really strict with sweets and overdoing the carbs now.
I hadn't been eating my special - K cereal, instead there was the peanut butter captian crunch (I <3 that stuff!!!) which I didn't partake in! Instead I had eggs and toast and coffee. I ran out of splenda, which I had been using to sweeten my one cup of coffee, so I used regular sugar. Also I buy whole milk for my boys because they are still at that age where they need the full fat. Yesterday, I ran out to the store and got some special - k with chocolate (really yummy!), some 1% milk, which I think tastes fine, some salad greens, cucumber, and triscuits with fire roasted tomato and olive oil flavor...they are sooooooo good and VERY filling. I have stuck with water only with an occasional sip of juice or milk. From all the research I have done, I am guessing that the muscle build up has halted the weight loss and now I have to up the workout and better my food intake. I have FINALLY lost another half a pound, but my ticker will not allow me to post 143.5, so I posted 143...I'll just have to leave it when I lose that other half pound. Now I am waiting for that muscle to start devouring some fat! *fingers crossed it happens soon*
Oh yes...I also took my bi-weekly measurements and not too bad! I've lost in the bust (my bra cups are much roomier), the waist, butt, and thighs, but have bulked a tiny bit in the upper arms.....hmmm?! So this time around I have lost a total of 3.125 inches for a total of 7 inches in 4 weeks! Woo hoo!
