My weight loss journey: 290 to 204 in 1 year

It's pretty hard to tell, seriously... When I was 290, I told myself that I would stop at 225. Then I said I still must lose some weight, lets have 180 as a target. But I realized (at 201, now) that I'm getting somehow small lol. I decided to stop losing weight and begin muscle training. Less than 200 would probably be too low for me!

yeah i feel ya, since i've always been a big guy myself i also cant see myself as a straight out thin guy, i still have to have that big look thats why for me going less than 200 is like too much 200-220 range for me would do. my real target has always been 220, but now im thinking 200-205, but no less than that.

Fantastic transformation. Would you mind offering a little detail on a typical day's eating (i.e. specifics) throughout your weight loss?

No problem.
I allowed myself 2000-2200 calories, sometimes 2400 calories.
I ate about 300 calories for breakfast, 600 for lunch and 800 for diner. I had a little +-500 calories for some snacks.

Usually, my breakfast was one of these:
-A big bowl of oatmeal with milk (NOT INSTANT OATMEAL, you must take the kind that cooks in 30 minutes. Steel cut.
-3 eggs + 1 slice of whole wheat bread
-1 slice of whole wheat bread + a cup of 1% cottage

Lunch:
-Anything such as salad is good, but don't forget proteins. You can eat some salad with feta (put a good piece of feta in, you must not crave during your afternoon and you must get to the diner). Salads such as taboule are good too. Try to get some vegetables there, because it fills you up and surprisingly gives a lot of energy. I often eat some tuna at lunch time. I make a salad with a can of tuna, or I eat it in a sandwich. Make sure you get 500-600 calories there, no more, no less. You want to get a spare for snacks, but you have to get enough energy to make it through your day!

Diner:
-Lean meat with vegetables. Lean pork, chicken, fish, they're all good and you can eat them a lot before reaching 800 calories. Sometimes you can coutn 100 calories / 100 gram. So for 400 calories, you can get 400 grams of chicken or pork, which is huge and won't let you craving. Then, with the spare 400 calories, add a salad and some cheese and stuff like that.

For the spare 500 in snacks, fruits are your friend! I never ate them before but they're really good, give energy and are low in calories. You can have a banana as a snack before your lunch, or raspberries, or a big apple, strawberries, etc... You can also have it during afternoon or at night.

--->I never believed in the fact that we must not eat at night. I usually eat something at night and it never stopped my weight loss (which is now at 201 btw). 1 calories is 1 calories, no matter if you eat it at night or at breakfast. It's just that habitually, at night, you'll want food that are high in calories and that's the reason why you bill more of them and stop the weight loss.

--->I never stopped drinking diet soda. They taste good and satisfy you with zero calories. I'll never stop drinking them even though it's bad for us (supposely). I fuel on coffee (I drink lots of coffee), diet 7up and water :)

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I'd be happy to help.

Very helpful, thanks. I've stopped and started since around March this year trying to find the right balance and discipline for this weight loss journey to get real. My goals are very similar to your direction, though I'm a few lbs over your starting weight currently, so it's really helpful to understand how you've achieved such fantastic results.

yum! you look delicious :p
i could tell you were hott in the first picture too, nice bone structure.
congrats on your success, you look great

Hey! Wow you look great, that second picture is v. nice ;-)

You might want to watermark your pics though, otherwise they might end up as a "lose 40lbs a week" fad diet thing, well at least, I've noticed everyone else always tells this to people who haven't watermarked their pics!
