My Weight Loss Journal *PICS*

Well i have been working out at the gym for about a week now. My goal is to lose about 40lbs. So far i haven't really lost to much, i went from 180 to 178 to 180 now i'm at 179. I have changed my diet to include more protine and cut out more unhealthy fats. I have always eaten pretty healthy, so this wasn't to hard for me. I have never really liked sweets like candy, doughnuts, ice cream ect. My downfalls are fatty foods like well, anything fried ect, oh and vodka lol. :D But i think i'm doing pretty good. I am really out of shape and i am mostly trying to build up the time i can spend on cartio equiptment, but i'm also doing weight training to build up my muscle.

Here is a pic of my body, i'll try and get a new pic every so often to see if there is any differance.

Here is some stuff off fitday.com that i'm doing. I set my activity to "bed bound" only because it was saying i was burning like 2700 calories and that seemed like to much. Even with this new setting it still says i'm burning more calories than i'm eating. Guess we will see! :D

Here is what i have eaten for the last 2 days to give you an idea of what i'm eating.

Well I thought I would post a link to my fitday.com thingy :D I don't eat 100% perfect, but i think i do ok. :D

Also a little more info on me. I have never been this big in my life. In the last year or so is when i started gaining weight. I really have no idea why, I haven't changed my diet or activity level ect. I also have 2 kids, one is 3yo and the other is 4yo. I never had any weight probelms from being pregnant ect. Got a few strech marks, but other than that noting else. Right after having my kids i actually weighed less than when i got pregnant.

Now at the gym I try and do the tredmill for 20 min (can't run yet though) and i usually do a fast walk going from 3mph-4.5mph. After doing that my legs feel like noodles lol so i go over the the weight training and do about 12 repatations (i can't spell) on each machine. Today i wanted to go again, but i fell asleep lol I needed a rest day anyways :D Tomarrow i'm planning on getting up early and going to a pilates class at 8am.

So anyways, from seeing my first post does anyone have any suggestions and anything i might be doing wrong?

The first thing you're doing wrong is expecting to much to fast; you've been at it a week, you haven't even made it through the anatomical adaption (AA) phase yet. Give it time.

I'm not sure if you've made an actual program for yourself, but structure a sound program to follow.

am i? I never said that i'm upset or anything because i haven't seen changes yet or anything like that.....I have lost about 1lb lol I know that i'm not really going to see changes, but i do already feel better. I feel like i have more energy and i feel more full since i have been eating better and taking the flax oil. I hope i can at least lose 1lb a week, i'd be happy with that. As for a plan, mostly its just what i said, cartio for about 20min then weights for about 20min probally 5x a week. I know i should probally stick to cartio one day then weight training another day ect, but i get bord doing only one thing :D

ye the first few weeks can be the hardest especially when you don't see the results you where hoping for. You should be aiming to lose around 1-2.5lbs a week.
YOu may want to start a structured execise regime. i.e. don't just do 12 reps and all the machines. You best bet is to get an instructor to give you a good workout. Also don't be afriad to use free weights and to use heavy free weight. Most women think that if they use big weights they will look like a female body builder, you won't. However muscle burns more calories in a day then fat so it can actually aid in weight loss even when you aren't doing anything.
Also try different cardio workouts as they can make it more interesting and may make the goign to teh gym a bit easier, as doign the same thing day in day out will start to get boring pretty quick.
Also see if your gym does beginner spinning classes as spinning is a great way to get fit and helps keeps your body burning calories for longer.

what exactly is spinning? I don't think my gym does it unless they might call it something else. My gum does have alot of classes though, yoga, bodyflex, abs of steel, sports circuit, hip hop dance, kobudo, butts n guts, and a bunch more. No spinning though lol

As for the free weights, isn't using the mechines that do weights the same?

One thing i'm having trouble with is getting my calories up, i just don't feel hungry and even getting my calorie intake up to 1500 about kills me lol Yesterday i was only able to get up to 900 or so and today i'm going to try to get higher. It's just hard when you don't feel hungry to eat.

On another note today at the gym the scale said i lost .5lb so thats a total of 1.5lbs since i have started. :D

basically spinning is cycling on a stationary bike. The classes generally do a lot of sprint or hill climbling so a lot of pushing your body. It is a HIIT exercise so can help burn for quite a while after you stop doing it.
Circuits can be good class, also step aerobics can be quite good(haven't done one myself going on research on this one).
Also do try your best to keep your calories up. it will generally keep your energy levels up but more importantly if you don't get enough calories your body thinks your are starving it (cause you are) and it will actualy try and retain as much fat as possible, so you won't lose fat.

edit: knew i forgot something. If you are going to weigh yourself best bet is to get a sclaes at home and weigh yourself there, and do it first thing in the morning (after a quick toilet break) and in the clothes i.e. night clothes or underwear. This will give you the best indication of weight loss as it will under the same circumstances. If you weigh yourself in the gym there are many things that might alter the weight. The amount of water you drank, the amount of sweat in your clothes or if you eat before hand or went to the loo. All these things can add to a 2-3 gain or loss depending so you can't really judge those scales properly

wwoooo

I just wanted to say everything looks good here. Keep up the hard work. Usually people dont start losing weight tell 1 month after they change their lifestyle. So dont give up if you dont notice a big change.

Goodluck
