Hi everyone! I'm 20, college student also working full time while in school. Right now I weigh 240, 5'9", and my target goal is 170. So far I have been counting calories and running. I just felt like I needed somewhere to come and discuss and keep track of how I'm doing.

Welcome, do you do any weight training during the week. That will defiantly help with results. Good luck!

I started back in mid January. I'm 5'7 and started at 325 lbs. I've been counting calories and doing a lot of cardio at the gym. I just started doing weight training, but not much. Goodluck!

Thanks saburn! I've begun doing some push ups and crunches. I don't have a lot of time (working full time and going to school full time) so I run in the field in my back hard and just do push ups and crunches in my room.

Thanks for the welcome Oggie!

Awsome Aero! Me and you are the same age, both college students, and we have very similar target weights. lol

Welcome to the forums! Sounds like you have a great goal! I'd love to help you get there! I'm curious as to how many calories per day you are consuming and what the breakdown looks like as far as carbs, fat, protein. Also, how much running are you doing?

Thanks IceRain! It's great to be out for summer (though I do have one summer class coming up in July). :ack2:

Sesha, thanks for the welcome! Right now, I'm eating right around 1950-2050 calories per day. I'm not sure what the exact breakdown has been when it comes to fats, carbs, and protein. I've been trying to keep it simple and focus on getting some kind of routine down that I can stick to since I'm just starting out. :)

I'm not sure exactly the distance that I'm running, since it's just the field in my back yard, but I've started out walking/jogging 10 laps (walk a lap, job a lap or I'll walk one, jog two etc.) which usually takes me about 15 minutes 5 days a week. I'm trying to get myself to where I can jog the entire 10 laps without walking any of them. The most I've been able to is 7 jogging and 3 walking so far (if that makes sense). Once I get used to the jogging, I'll increase to 20 mins, then 30, etc.

Sounds like a really good plan. Much better than trying to do everything at once and getting frustrated and giving up.

Do you have an iPod or mp3 player?

There are lots of podcasts you can download to listen to that will help you run. I'm currently working through Robert Ullrey's Couch to 5k program, but there's also Podrunner, and a few others.

I love the podcasts because I don't have to pay attention to time or distance myself. I just listen to the music and let the program tell me when to run and when to walk!
