My wake-up call

Hey, I'm Tammy, just joined the site.

Today I was randomly taking pictures and decided to take some of myself in the mirror. When I put the pics on my computer and saw them, I had a sort of wake-up call. I mean, I always thought that I was chubby, but I realized today that I'm just plain fat. And it's not really doing much for my self-esteem (which wasn't too grand to begin with). I'm mildly disappointed that I took the pictures because it's shattered my comfortable delusions that I was only a little bit overweight. But, of course, I'm also glad that I took them because it's going to help me motivate myself to get serious about weight loss.

I've already been trying to lose weight and I'd love to lose some weight before Christmas, because I'm going to see my family in Miami and 1) I want them to be impressed 2) It's Miami! I can't be walking around in heavy, baggy clothing that'll hide my fatness. Sure, it'll be Christmas time but it's still gonna be hot there, so I need to look at least decent in a bathing suit! :p
 
welcome to the forum. You will find soooo many people here willing to help you. If you have a plan about your weight loss I would like to know it. If not, there are loads of info all over the site. Good luck to you!

Welcome- can't say that I've been really active on this site!Actually, I have a similar goal to you(but that didn't really click in my mind until you said the words). I'm also going back to see my family in late Nov..and being 10kg and the 'girl who keeps putting on weight' is not how I want to be remembered. Especially since I am only 21! I should take pics too but I'm too afraid to. It's good to see progress though. I think the 10kg crept on just because I saw it go on bit by bit and thought..."oh, I can work it off". It's when my old clothes don't fit..and when my pants split(go on & laugh lol- happened!!)...is that when you realise it's time to lose weight!
