My story

Hello everyone,

I decided to join the site after reading a few posts. This site seems to have a very positive atmosphere, and everyone has my thanks for keeping it that way. My name is Micah, and I am a 25 year old chemist who has been having weight problems. I was always very active k-12 due to sports, but upon going to college I discovered that I was not quite the star athlete my hometown led me to believe. I quit running, working out, and 7 years down the road I have found myself somewhat disgusted with myself for doing it. A few weeks ago I decided I had had enough, and so I started following my old high school fitness regiment, adapted of course to fit my current age and fitness level. I have already started seeing results. I have went from 297 down to 276. I have always been a nerd at heart, I guess that is why I picked my profession, and so I have found enjoyment in keeping track of the numbers. I used a formula from this very website to create a spreadsheet to calculate my calories needed, and to keep tabs on my eating habits. I actually look forward to stepping on the scale since I have faith that it will hold only good news. You guys are partly to thank for this since it was seeing others like myself struggling against, and eventually overcoming, their own weight problems that led me to start my own fight. So, thank you for allowing me to join, and thank you for your time, compassion, and input that makes this particular forum board so special.

Welcome, Mr. Science Guy!

Congratulations on your success so far. I hope you took some "before" photos so you'll be able to post some before and afters later on!

You are so right about this forum. I certainly credit the people here with helping me lose weight and keep my sanity at the same time. I'm sure you will find it invaluable.

Best of luck to you!

Welcome to the forums and I agree with Rox that these forums and the support I get here have had a huge effect on my success so far.

While I couldn't be a chemist to save my life, I'm right with you on the tracking and calculating thing; I just get a kick out of it, and it helps keep me on the right path.

I'm also like you in the way that when I stumbled upon WLF, I recognized it for the support system goldmine that it truly is. Everybody is supportive, everybody's pulling for everyone else; it's the greatest.

Anyway, welcome! Look forward to seeing you around; best of luck!

Hi Micah! I am Stacey and new to the forum as well. It is nice to hear and share for others going through the same.

Greetings fellow chemist. I was once a main group chemist but now make my living elsewhere.

I know what you mean about formulas and I confess that I too made an excel spreadsheet to track progress.
