My story (Pretentious name I guess, Pictures though... yay!)

Well, I just joined this forum after just lurking in the shadows looking at pictures of improvement to get myself motivated. (Trying to do that right now, but I figured I should stop being a forum ninja).

I've always been what my friends/family would call "solid" and "broad". Upon hindsight, I've realised this is just a cheap sounding cover up for i was slowly getting bigger. And they weren't wrong, but with a lot of weight issues you don't really notice til someone you've just met says something like "you can move kinda fast for a fat guy".

You spend awhile thinking, maybe they were just being ironic and then you weigh yourself for the first time in a year because you just know that the results will be terrible.

So... me:

After one of the most kickass relationships I've ever had ended in April 08, my life kinda sucked. I found out my dad had cancer (but he's much better now, although a diabetic - just another reason to be healthier) and yeap, i weighed 100kg = 220lbs.

I joined a gym (I didn't go for long) and lost 36kg or 79lbs. So at the moment i'm 64kg - about 140lbs. My family thinks I have a disease cause it's been such a big change. But it's all clear :)

Summary:

Date of not being big - around 27th of April 2008
Peak weight - 100kg = 220lbs
Weight loss - 36kg = 79lbs
Result - 64kg = 141lbs
Main weight loss tool - Occasional cardio but strict calorie counting and insane water consumption.

Future goals - get rid of my lowerback fat.

Any advice on this would be amazing.

anyway, pictures.

So, the before was taken on my 18th birthday party... I was so pissed off when i saw these.

and this one i'm just a little proud of :) - a bit wanky though.

Thanks!

It's hard to let go of that extreme dietting mentality. I did it for well over a year. But with all the cardio I do now, I have to eat enough to be able to do it, not to mention my metabolism has increased and I just can't keep up the rock bottom calorie bracket

Dude thats what I did to loose all my weight, I set a calorie limit of 1400 where would feel hungry like 50% of my day and I did LOTS of cardio, over the summer I was doing 2 hours a day, 6 days a week. I know its kinda unhealthy but the new school year was approaching fast and I wanted to give it my all...

Oh shit, i'm glad I didn't have a time limit hey.

I'm awful with deadlines haha.

The worst part about not doing the exercise was the muscle loss as well. I'm weak as hell lol.

Same, ya my arms are soo small, I got the smallest biceps ever, im taking it easy now and maintaining and starting next January im going to do a program called p90x to tone up and regain some muscle.

oh yeah!

Have you seen the results videos on youtube? Some people have had amazing success with it.

Cardio is kinda fun, but weight training frightens me, especially since the area i'm in has a lot of guys who i went to school with... And 90% of them are assholes.

I'm thinking i might buy my own, but thats money. And money sucks.

Yeah I dont like go to the gym at all, for my cardio I either went on my elipitical, rowing machine or most of the time I went out jogging on a nice path. And like I dont plan on being buff so to speak, I just want a toned look to me and make my arms less squishy haha

p90x isn't the best for building muscle. Its really designed to lose weight while maintaining muscle and building strength. Its intense exercise 1 hour/day 6 days a week with an eating plan designed to take off fat. If putting on mass is your goal, a simple strength training program will help you see better results.

If you do p90x and eat enough, you'll gain muscle though. It would definitly not be ideal though.

Congratulations on all your hard work, & who cares what AHoles think, just remember what you've done to get where you are! Most of the time the Aholes are just really insecure people. I'm sure if you just go about your own business , they'll go about theirs.

I partially agree with what your saying but I still have some fat still on me and P90x can build muscle and it helps tone, if I want to just gain muscle then ya doing a strength training program would be the ideal thing to do.

Building Muscle is toning. The more muscle you have the less fat you'll have. Muscle BURNS Fat.

It may just be loose skin you & the OP are seeing, such as that *skinny fat* look. I have it too. I've also noticed that dropping more weight is not the answer, I looked better 4 lbs ago when I had more muscle definition. Believe it or not, I was much more slender looking as well as I didn't have such a big muffin top with jeans for the first time in my life!

Muscle redistributes your BODY SHAPE. :)

Good work. What did you eat most days?

I actually still ate frequent amounts of shit. But mostly energy drinks and stuff.

The worst food i'd eat would be maybe service station wraps. Which are amazing, and the odd packet of Migoreng.

But when i knew i'd gone overboard i'd exercise those calories off i guess.

And a big thanks to everyone else for your compliments :)

Oh babe you're too skinny lol what back fat are you trying to loose dear? jeeeez. You should add me on Myspace if you have one:
