Hana, Justina and Mystic, thank you for checking in on me! I appreciate it.
I'm in a quiet period right now. I took the weekend off from aggressively trying to lose weight. First official "break" I've taken since starting in January. I didn't go "off the reservation" and eat a jumbo pizza or mainline clarified butter or anything. Just wanted to take a breather. I still ate right and exercised and drank my water and all. But I also had a tiny bit of pasta, a salty soup and some homemade fried rice. As a result, my weight has been roughly the same (up 1.0 lb) since last Friday, I think.
I think I'm going through what I call a "redistribution period". Because of the types of exercise I've been doing and also the way I put the weight on to begin with, it looks like much of the weight I've been losing up until now was coming from my legs, butt, arms, neck, etc. My torso has remained pretty thick -- although my tummy has definitely flattened out some. As result, it really hasn't made me
appear 80 lbs lighter to most people. Well, I think my excess weight is now in the process of redistributing itself from my trunk to my legs, rear and arms, so I am
starting to appear smaller to others. This weekend, I got no fewer than 6 compliments from different people about my weight loss... where I hadn't heard much at all prior to last Friday. Now it starts getting exciting to me, as some of the losses will result in observable physical changes. This is important to someone like me, who thrives on immediate feedback.
Speaking of which, I borrowed a blood pressure machine and have been taking my rest heart rate and BP for the last week. I now check it every day in the morning after waking and in the evening about 10-15 minutes after a workout. Comparing my readings to my last measured stats taken (by a doctor) late last year before I started this process, my rest heart rate has dropped from 72 to around 64, and my BP has dropped quite a bit, too. This morning's measurement was 142/77 @ 64 bpm. Yes, I know my BP is a bit high, but when I asked my doctor last week (brief appointment to discuss the freakin' poison oak rash I acquired a couple of weeks ago!) he was not very concerned. He talked a lot about my food intake and exercise and said as long as I keep up what I'm doing, he'd just "keep an eye" on my BP over the coming months. In Fall of last year, my BP was measured at 170/105 @ 72 bpm.... THAT was cause for concern.
Sorry I haven't been to everyone's diary lately. Like I said, I am in a quiet period right now. Keep fighting the good fight, everyone. I'll check back in later.
