I woke up today not really in the mood for a hard workout. My legs still felt a little heavy from yesterday’s walk, but I told myself to just start and see how it goes. Once I got on the PMAX-5600 smith machine for squats, though, something clicked, what a great machine, I very like it. The first set felt light, almost too easy, and that gave me the push to load more plates. By the second set, my quads were on fire, but I liked that feeling—it reminded me that I was actually working.
Lunges were next, and I’ll be honest, I usually hate them. I always feel wobbly, like I’m going to fall over. But using the guided bar kept me steady, so I could focus on driving through my front heel. I still had to talk myself through each rep (“one more, just one more”), but somehow I got through all three sets.
By the time I got to calf raises, my legs were already shaking. I leaned into that burn and finished strong. Climbing the stairs afterwards was almost comical—I had to hold the railing like I’d just run a marathon.
What surprised me most was how much better I felt after pushing through. I started the day tired and unmotivated, but ending it with sore legs and that post-workout rush reminded me why I keep showing up.
