My Journey...

Day 17

Food:
Breakfast- 2 egg omelet with 1 slice lowfat monterey jack cheese, tomatoes & alfalfa sprouts
Lunch- 1 whole wheat pita w/leftover roast beef, lettuce, tomato & a little mustard & mayo; plus about 1/2 a cup of cheese its
Snack- snow snap peas w/lowfat cream cheese, 1 apple, 1 Kashi trail mix granola bar
Dinner- a bowl of salad & 2 whole wheat pitas w/olive oil, lowfat monterey jack cheese & tomatoes (I feel SO full right now! I should have not had those pitas... I am bugged cuz I feel like I over ate. Tomorrow I will really have to watch myself.)

Fitness:
gym- 30 minutes on bike, a little over 6 miles
lifted light weights, worked on my arms today

Fun:
I didn't really do too much at all today, so I will just have to consider my big dinner an indulgence and try not to feel the guilt.

Feelings:
I don't know why I ate so much at dinner. When I look at what I wrote it doesn't seem like tons & tons of food, but it felt like it while I was eating it. I got full after the first pita, but I just couldn't stop eating. That is definitely a habit that has got to go! I felt hungry all day today, and even started to crave hot fries again, but only for about 2 seconds. Then I come home after the gym and I did pig out after all.

Well, tomorrow is a new day...

Hey Stacy, Thanks so much for the pep talk in my journal. It was a real boost. How often does your hubby have to go out of town? Your food today was so nutrtious and sounds so great! I hate when I get too full for comfort. It's good though that you at least overdid it a little on health food and not hot fries!! Yum, sprouts. I forgot how much LOVE sprouts until I read it and my mouth is literally watering. Great work on the bike!

Thanks!
I do not feel like my food was nutritious at all today. I don't know why, I think it is just the overfull feeling.

Paul works 48 hour shifts. So, for example, he left yesterday morning around 5:30am (to be to work at 7:00am.. he is Lieutenant of a station about an hour north of us) and he will be home tomorrow morning around 8:00am. Then he is usually home for 4 days. However, this week he has picked up an extra shift, so he will leave on Saturday morning and return Sunday morning.

BLAHHHHH!!!! There is a good side to this, though. And that is that we do miss eachother. We always want to spend every minute that we have together with eachother cuz we know that part of each week is spent apart. I guess that part is good for our marriage.

Plus, starting in September I will be back in class full time and he is also taking a couple of classes towards his Fire Science degree. The man already has TWO degrees. But whatever makes him happy. He wants to be able to consider a Captain, then possibly Chief's position one day.

Nothing worng with eating too much once in a while. Just don't make it a habbit, also the fact that you ate healthy is great, you just gave your body a boost of nutrients. Way better then a boost of greese that fries would have given you hehe.

I understand what yer talkin' about..

Hubby and I miss each other as well and it seems to truly help a marriage not to be around each other 24/7..lmbo! :biggrinjester:

My hubby works 7PM - 7AM

On work days, I see him about 20 mins. in the morning before he goes to bed.
He sleeps all day for his long/stressful shift.

Once up at 5:30PM - He eats, showers, and then makes the 30 min. drive to work.

So, on his days off we are ready to see each other as husband and wife; and as a family. (we have a 14 yr. old son.)

;)

HeeHee - I agree with Big Green.

Have A Goal Reachin' Day Doll! :hug2:

Oh dont worry about them pitas u silly nilly.

You are doing GREAT!!!!

Thanks guys!
I know you are right and I think the problem was really just not liking that too full feeling AT ALL. That is a really good thing! I don't want to overeat anymore, and I find myself eating smaller portions and getting full faster.

Day 18

Food:
Late breakfast- 2 pancakes, 3 sausage links, applesauce
Lunch/Dinner- bowl of green chile stew (w/roast beef, potatoes, carrots & onions), 2 pieces cornbread
Snack- 1 banana, 1 snack container rice pudding

Fitness:
Gym- 20 minutes (SLOW walking on treadmill), I am still having pain from my shin splints but trying to strengthen my leg; I alternated walking on my tiptoes, and then walking exagerated heel to toe
20 minutes on bike, about 4 miles

Fun:
PAUL CAME HOME THIS MORNING!!! We rented a few movies and vegged for most of the day.

Feelings:
Had a good day. Even though I acted like a big vegetable today, I didn't eat enough of them. Tomorrow I am going to make sure and have some salad. YUMMY!!!

Have a great night and day tomorrow. I'll be check in on everyone as soon as I have a little more time. :waving:

Yay for some Hubby-time!! I forgot to tell you that when I made my spaghetti, I took your advice and added in some green chiles. Mmm, it was really good! I'm glad your shins are getting better :D

YUMMY! :drool5: I just wish you could experience fresh roasted green chile. There is nothing like it anywhere outside of New Mexico. Well, we do ship it to my mom in Texas... LOL! What kind of chile did you find? Was it canned? If at all possible see if they have frozen Hatch Green Chile. It's about as close as you can get.

Hey Stacy Girl!
Sooo sorry to have gone MIA this week.
MIL about passed out at the Y on Tuesday so I rushed her to the ER. And then sat there for like 4 hours waiting for tests and results of them. She ended up staying the night and being released at dinner on Wednesday.
Since then hubby and I have been trying to keep track of her.
I see that you lost 1 1/2 pounds! I told you that scale would be nice to you. LOL
Glad to see it.
Ouch! about the shin splits. I had them once and wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy. Unfortunately for me the nature of my job didn't afford me the opportunity to rest them much. So I had to deal with them way longer than nescessary.
Definately take it easy with them.
Have a great Weekend!

Sounds like you had a crazy week! Glad you are back in action. I'll be checking in on you today.

Thanks for checking on me and for all the support!

Day 19

from yesterday

Food:
Breakfast- bowl of cheerios & 1 banana w/fatfree milk
Lunch- Keva Kolada smoothie from Keva Juice, shot of wheat grass
Snack- 1 peach
Dinner- I had been craving pizza so Paul and I talked about going out to dinner, but we decided it would be better if we tried making it at home. So, we got little baby individual crusts & topped it with Prego spaghetti sauce, lowfat mozarella, pepperoni, mushrooms, black olives, red onions, fresh spinach & fresh basil, also had a salad with this so there were LOTS of veggies. The pizza was YUMMY! And SO filling. I couldn't believe it!!!

Fitness:
Gym- lifted weights, worked on my arms
swam 12 laps (so I'm up to 300 meters now!!!)

Fun:
We enjoyed both the sauna & steam room at the gym.

Feelings:
I planned meals for this coming week and Paul & I spent the morning shopping. Probably not his funnest thing to do, but I actually enjoy grocery shopping. Plus, we got to do it together. First we hit up Costco, so that's not even really like grocery shopping. We got lots & lots of fresh veggies & fruits for the week. I feel like I am keeping on track and it feels wonderful.

We talked about going to see a movie but never got around to it. Of course, this led us to wondering about the calorie/fat content in our beloved movie theater buttered popcorn. My eyes are definitely opening up about the things I used to eat. I did a little research on popcorn & pizza.

Here's what I found out:
A KIDS SIZE buttered popcorn has 470 calories and 37 grams of fat. (And who EVER eats this size???)
A medium size popcorn has 910 calories and 71 grams of fat
One slice from a large pepperoni pan pizza (Pizza Hut) is 400 calories and 21 grams of fat. (Again, who ever eats just one slice?)
One slice from a large supreme thin crust (Pizza Hut) is 330 calories and 16 grams of fat.

Well, they say you are what you eat. I wondered how I had gotten to the point that I actually weighed 221 pounds. Well, now there is really no wondering about it. GROSS! I definitely prefer eating healthy & exercising regularly.

Ok, I'm off to check everyone else's progress. Have another happy & healthy day!!! :seeya:

Man that's a whole lot of calories for so little food. I agree, eating healthy and getting plenty of excersize is very rewarding, keep it up :)

Yer doin' so great!

I'm happy and proud of ya! :seeya:

The fast/junk food can be an eye opener, that's 4 sure!

I came close to passing out when I found out how many cals/fat were going in my body from one meal when we used to eat out. :ack2: (fast food wise)

Have A Goal Reachin' Day!
