My Journey...

Day 15

from yesterday
Food:
Breakfast- fatfree vanilla yogurt w/grapes, bananas & sliced almonds
Lunch- I made a huge salad to have for the entrire week. It has lettuce (of course), bell pepper, celery, broccoli, carrots & cucumber. I grilled some chicken and added tomatoes, alfalfa sprouts, jalapeno stuffed green olives & lowfat feta cheese. I squeezed some lime juice over it instead of salad dressing!
Snack- lowfat string cheese, Nature Valley oats n' honey granola bar
Dinner- 1 slice roast w/potatoes, onions & carrots, 2 pieces cornbread (I used whole wheat flour instead of white!!!)

Fitness:
Ran Ace 1.5 miles (that's right, his daily walks are going to turn into runs!!!)

Fun:
My closet is jam packed with clothes, most of which do not even fit me right now. So, I took all the tight clothes out of my closet & packed them away according to size. Now, as I start losing weight, I can just pull out the clothes one size at a time & have a new wardrobe & get to see clothes that I love fit me again.

Feelings:
I didn't make it to the gym so I felt kinda yuck last night, but at least I was able to run with Ace earlier in the day. I have been averaging about 4 days a week in the gym, but I really do want to step that up to 6 days. I am going to start doing some weight/strength training, plus I want to take an aerobics class one day a week. I plan on mixing it up & only running 3 days a week at they gym, especially now that I have started running in the mornings with Ace.

Hey, how does ace like running?

Just saying hello, I'm not new to the forums, but it's been a while since I've been here. Time to mingle!! whooohoo

Hello! Thanks for stopping by.

Ace LOVES running. Besides he has no choice since he will be running my first 5k with me...lol. His only problem is that when we go on walks, his favorite thing to do is chase a few lizards along the way, but when we run and he tries to do this, he almost trips me! Ha! But he'll get the hang of it.

mmm! your food yesterday sounds so good! I like the low calorie breakfast parfait, I'm going to have to try that. Your workout plan is awesome! I really need to get more weights into mine. I have a weight machine and I fooled around on it yesterday for a couple of minutes, but I really want to start challenging myself with it. Well, keep it up! :gnorsi:

Wow, you got your plans down. Good job. That's a great idea about your clothes. I have some clothes packed away that haven't fit me for years. Hopefully I'll get to pull them out someday soon and fit in 'em. You are doing great. Take care.

Yep, very yummy & one of my favorites. (Even better when hubby washes & cuts up all the fruit... hee hee!)

I can't wait to get down to my first size! It will be like having a whole new wardrobe without even spending any money. But, I also can't wait to want to go shopping again. That is a true day to look forward to, not to feel so fat in everything I try on!!!

clothes??!!?

when I lose the weight........

Sheesh ! ! I plan on going NAKED !!!

:party::party::party::party:

Yeah man, Nude beach here I come!

Yes, very funny boys... Actually, I already run around naked most of the time now. It's just not as pretty as it should be! Notice that I haven't posted any BEFORE pictures yet. That's cuz I want everyone to see the hot AFTER pictures first... LOL.

You guys sure do crack me up!

Day 16

Food:
Breakfast- cheerios w/fat free milk

Lunch- black beans & brown rice w/pico de gallo

Snack- 1 apple, 1 Kashi Peanut Butter granola bar

Dinner- green chile stew (Made from the leftover roast... so it also had carrots, potatoes & onions. Then I added a bag of green chile & garlic), had this w/ 1 whole wheat tortilla

Snack- 2 oatmeal raisin cookies (I made these over the weekend using the Weight Watchers recipe but I won't even bother posting it cuz they're not that good. If you happen to look it up, I did use whole wheat flour instead of white.) I was craving something sweet & I knew I could get away with these even though they're not the greatest cookie... I also had a glass of fat free milk w/them.

Fitness:
Holy crap! :angelsad2: I got shin splints today. Thought I was going to die. I still don't think the verdict is in on whether or not I'll really be ok.

Ran/walked Ace 1.5 miles. I started running and this is when I first started feeling the shin splint in my right shin. I had to slow to a walk but it didn't seem to help.

Gym- I tried to run, and I was actually ran the first mile very well. Had a faster time than I have had, and was well on my way to beat my 2.07. Then I started feeling the shin splint again. I had to stop running at only 20 minutes, and I was at 1.31 miles. I was in so much pain I got nauseous and light headed. I made it home, but I am still a little weak.

Fun:
After I got home from taking Ace earlier in the day, I decided to take a bath to try to help with my shin splint. So, I took a detox bath (add 2 cups epsom salt, 2 cups baking soda & some essential oil like my choice of lavendar chamomile.)

Feelings:
I am BUMMED about the shin splints because I do not want to have bad workouts. I feel ready and excited to exercise, but today I physically could not do it. If you guys have any advice about this, PLEASE, PLEASE let me know what might help. I looked up some info online and found out that calcium & protein can help. Also, I need to stretch more... but man, if you can tell me anything else to avoid this I am all ears. :bigear:

Tomorrow is weigh in day, so I am both excited & nervous about that. I haven't had any major emotional break downs like I did last week so that is good. I have decided that whatever happens, will happen. And I am just going to keep focused on making my life healthier & happier.

Also, Paul is gone again. He left this morning feeling like he was coming down with a cold or something, so I hope he is ok. While he is on shift he can't really take any medicine, cuz he can't risk being drowsy, so I sent him with some herbal tea, honey & lemon.

Well, wish me luck for tomorrow!!! Goodnight everyone!

Man! That's too bad about the shin splints! I HATE that! I haven't had any in awhile but my only advice is to rest them. I know that you want to keep going but you need to let them heal or they will get much worse. I'm sure soaking it in the bath will help too. Your bath sounded devine! I am such a bath junkie! I honestly don't remember the last time I took a shower. Baths are so relaxing!! I'm growing some lavender and am going to dry them and put them in little cloth baggies for the bath. I'm sure they'll make good Christmas presents for my sisters(I have 4!) I'm sure you'll do fine tomorrow for your weigh-in. You have been working so hard and eating so healthy so even if the scale is not down, just know that you are doing the right thing for your body. You're doing awesome!

Grrrrr... This sucks, but I know you are right. Today I won't even take Ace walking, I'll just take him to the dog park. I am going to still go to the gym tonight but I will do some cycling for my aerobics and then start my weight lifting.

Week 2: 217.5

YES!!! I lost 1.5 pounds this week. That is a number that I am happy with cuz I know that I am not going to gain any of this weight back. I am truly making this a lifestyle change and I have not wanted to completely gorge myself while Paul is gone, not even once! I know there are better food choices for me at home and I don't even think about ordering an entire pizza or anything crazy like that.

WOOHOO!!! :hurray:

I did look at some of the goals I had set and I think they are a bit too aggressive, so I revamped them a little. Instead of reaching my goal weight by my birthday, I am going to set the date for June 22nd, 2009. That is the first day of summer, and the first thing I am going to do when I reach my goal is buy a bikini & go SWIMMING IN IT!!!

So, my first mini goal is still to lose 10% (22 lbs) total, but instead of doing this by Sept 24th I plan to reach this by October 31st. (This will be our 4th anniversary and we are going to start taking professional family portraits every year.)

Then my mini goals will go as follows:
10% (20 lbs) = 179 by Dec 25th (Christmas)
10% (18 lbs) = 161 by Feb 14th (Valentines)
normal BMI!!! = 154 by Mar 25th (My Birthday)
10% of 161 (16 lbs) = 145 by May 10th (Mother's Day... cuz we wanna start having some bambinos...)
FINAL 10 lbs = 135 by Jun 22nd (First day of summer)

I am very excited about this. I have a definite plan and most importantly, I just want to keep being healthy.

Have a great day everyone!!!

That is fantastic. I think your goals are realistic and if you reach them you have a lot to be proud of.

Seeing that you have to rest your shins for a while, maybe you can do a non impact workout, swimming or something, don't even know if that is an option for you though.

Yea, I will be mixing up my cardio routine, and plan on swimming at least once a week. Tonight I am going to ride the bike, though, cuz I want to start lifting some weights as well.
