My Flab Problem :( Please help

So here's my problem. I've always been a very very skinny guy but around 11th grade in high school I became overweight because I got absolutely no exercise. How much weight I gained was not tremendous, but very noticeable. Anyways, later on I decided to get skinny again and ran with little to no weight training. I also went to China for a month and lost tons of pounds there. I now weigh around 138-140 lbs, but have a serious problem. I still have a flabby stomach and flabby thighs. It simply won't go away no matter how much I try.

I tried moderate weight training, hitting my abs hard (noticed difference in abs, but the flab won't go away). I can't eat less because I'm already extremely skinny everywhere else, so it wouldn't work. I'm really stuck here. I can't lose weight all over, but I weight lifting just doesn't work. What do I do?

I can pinch about 1-2 inches off my stomach (just guessing). Honestly it's not THAT bothersome (despite that if I didn't have it you could probably see my abs while standing up), except for when I sit down. If I sit down barely or bend it in any way then it piles up and just looks god awful. I honestly think it's flab from when I was overweight because it doesn't seem to "attach" to my body normally like regular fat does.

Oh and it's been about 8-9 months or so since my drastic weight loss. (June last year).

Thanks for helping. Tell me what you think. I might put up some pictures to better show my problem.

Flab problem - Happened Instantly

I guess the flab was caused by your instant weight loss acts. The skin that was stretched out when you gained weight shouldn't be there if the weight loss program was gradual or taken in a slower rate to help the skin adjust and shrink bit by bit. But if you tried to loose weight instantly, the skin or flab won't be able to adjust that fast. Since it's stretched.

I highly suggest building muscles for it so that it won't look or be a flab anymore.

Thanks for the advice. So I'm actually stuck with this flab and I can only make it relatively look better by getting larger abs? That doesn't sound too good. :(

I'm a skinny guy as well. I was 155 at 6 foot in high school. Now, at age 58, I'm 168 at 6'1".

I quit drinking beer entirely 18 months ago, and went from 192 down to under 160. I'm now working to gain weight, but not flab.

Back in the early 90's, when I was still drinking a lot of beer, I started lifting weights and doing other exercises. I tried doing sit ups to get rid of my gut. I got to doing 175 sit ups in a row, but my gut didn't get smaller. Firmer and more muscle, yes, but not smaller.

My wife has the same problem now with exercising to lose weight. Her thighs and calves aren't getting smaller, but they're hard as rocks.

I don't have an answer for you, just this observation. It may be that you can firm up the waist first, and then slim it down. I hope that's possible, and that someone will mention how it's done.

The solution would be to lower your body fat. However if you feel like you're too skinny in other areas what you can do is work on gaining muscle first. Then slowly drop the weight so that you keep the muscle you worked hard for and lower your body fat. This will eliminate the excess flab and at the same time you will feel comfortable with the other areas of your body.
