Just wanted to introduce myself. I have had so many day 1s it is embarrassing. I have good will power when it comes to other aspects of my life but when I start a diet I have failed too many times. My latest day 1 of a new lifestyle started yesterday so here I am posting on day 2!! Hoping that using this forum might help my motivation.

I am a guy in my 30s, weigh 201lbs and want to get to 168 by the end of September. Would love to start a group of like minded guys and girls whatever your goals. Please let me know if you would be interested in joining me on my summer weight loss odyssey!!

My plan is pretty simple. I like calorie counting so will take in 1200 calories a day and will exercise(cardio) for an hour a day. I hope to introduce some gym work in a month or so - little steps and all that.

Hey dayoneguy, welcome to the forum! Have you taken a look around the forum yet? If you're looking for others to keep you accountable and to challenge you to maintain your weight loss, I'd suggest starting a journal in the Weight Loss Diary section. If you read and post in others' journals, they're more likely to check in on yours to give you feedback and encouragement. There's also a section for weight loss challenges, where people will post their weight on a regular basis. Good luck to you!

Thanks PLBFitness. I have started a journal and amazed that others have already taken the time to reply. Loving the forum so far. Definitely interested in taking on one of the challenges.

If any of you would like more info on these products, please let me know. I would love to help others get healthy and reach their goals

Thanks for the offer arax17. Planning on giving this weight loss thing a bash with pure will power, diet and exercise for now. Congrats on the weight loss - you look great.

Welcome to the forum.

I am encouraged to hear that you have a strong desire to lose weight before September...Bravo!!

This forum is very active and doing the weight loss with a group is soooo critical...

I am looking to lose 10 or so pounds by the end of the Summer!

I began my healthy lifestyle transformation 2 years ago. Started with hitting the gym 7 days a week.

I did get in better shape...more muscle, a little bit of weight loss (very little FAT loss) and I gained more energy.

However, I was still "flabby" around my middle (I am a 50 year old man).

Then I read a book about nutrition...focused mainly on lowering cholesterol...and this was when my FAT loss really took place.

What I learned was the following...

--I don't really want to lose Total Body Weight, instead I want to lose Body Fat. That visceral fat around your belly. It is dangerous to let it hang around. So, I purchased a scale that measures Body Fat%, nothing expensive ($40 at Wal-mart) and now I can keep track of the most important indicator of my overall health, Body Fat %.

--80% of your Fat Loss will come from nutrition (what you eat, when you eat it and in what portions), only 10% will come from exercise.

Keep me posted on your journey.

Congrats on your transformation Craigworrell. I definitely share your attitude towards weightloss. I too just want to feel healthy and have the energy I need to enjoy like better. Learning more about body fat %. Just ghired a personal trainer and we talked a lot about it yesterday.
